Jamaal Anderson? The thought crossed my mind when I saw him on Best Darned Sports tonight. Jerra can't resist the marquee names, no matter how expensive.

As togetting JA, Jerra would have to trade up. Big time.
But our rascally owner would love to make a point. That he can be a football guy and to boot, pick an Arkansas star who will be groomed to replace the bewildered Spears at DE.

I bet Jerra would love to have this blue chipper from his alma mater tearing up backfields this or next year.
But what would Jerra offer? Alas, he does not have a superstar to trade to switch 22 for an 8 or possibly a 10th selection. He just won't be able to make that jump.

So by default: DE Jarvis Moss from Florida (with WP's blessing) or WR Dwayne Bowe (Mr. Dependable) from . . . Arkansas!

No thanks necessary, pals.

(Too bad Anthony Gonzales, WR, Ohio, won't be around for us in the second round. He's gonna be a monster WR.)

I usually abstain from your garbage, but.

Somebody got up on the wrong side of the rock.
Glad you took the time and next time, maybe something more cogent? Ok, then.

Now, the way I see it, Jamaal is a big long shot.
Moss is the more probable of the two. Maybe?

Yes, by all means, lets trade UP to get a guy at a position where we already have Spears, Canty, Hatcher, Ratliff, and Bowen...all of which are said to be solid if not promising. I rather see what those guys can do this year under Wade's system than to deal away several picks for this guy.

No thanks.

I see trade down and Aaron Ross at 30. Pick up an extra 3rd and 4th.

Moss will be there in the second, his character issue will push him down to mid second. Teams are going to really be concerned about any of those guys with character issues and/or possible character issues.

Same reason that Merriweather at FS will probably last until the second round.

Bowe or Meachem: I hope.

seems to be leaning that way.

but it depends on what happens with CB -- if Hall or Revis is there and Meachem isn't it gets to be a tough pick

Not sure whether Moss or Ross will be at 22 much less 30. There is a good chance a DB of Ross's talent will be at 22 but only a 1/6 to 1/3 chance Ross will be. He's one of six DBs that will go in the mid-lower first to upper second. Moss should be a mid-low first to upper second pick. I doubt either will be there in the 50s.

Meriweather never got into any trouble until 2006. Shooting a gun is troublesome but I've never heard the complete story. I do know he got into no trouble over it. Stomping on someone's head is worrisome but one incident is a isolated blip. How he interviewed and what his peers and coaches said will go a long way. He's picked in the first to upper second and will not be there in the 50s either. Unless he does something else. He has too much talent and play making production to fall to us in the second. JMO.

I can't see Ross lasting past the Giants at #20. Quick, name their starting CBs.

I couldn't either.

I agree with your second round thoughts. If we traded down some in the first I would not be opposed to taking Gonzo in the late first.

I was alluding to Jerra's love for DEs. And especially blue-chip big-time DEs.
I think secondary, O line and WR are priority needs. And, yes, I think we are stocked at DE but Spears seemed uninspired last year.
I like Spears. I like Canty even more.
But don't discount Jerra's love for DEs.
