With the lack of talent in this year's draft, should we ditch the trade value chart?

Lack of talent? It may not be a deep draft but there is plenty of talent.

Ditch the trade value chart? What the heck?????????
how stupid could I be, all the hard work you did to put up that chart!!!! I don't even know why I come around here!!    (cue BDG joke in 3,2,1)

yet somehow they're labeled as a team that drafts well!
They do draft well. There was list that came out. Teams with drafted payers making the most pro bowls. Dallas was at the top.
The issue is, they do not know how to turn those players into winning playoff games.

damn man I said this yesterday, why just limit ourselves to a trade in round one??? Let's get a 5 for 3!!!! We can trade down in the first, trade down in the second. Getting us an extra pick in the 2nd or 3rd/then one in the 4th or whatever floats your boat!!! Let's be active!!!!!!!!
Take the impact player in the 1st, trade down in the 2nd is not bad at all. A lot of good depth will be there.
They thing is, what can you get with trading down in the 2nd. We may not get a 3rd and a 4th, as we would with trading down the 1st round.
But you never know, some tam may do that.

get as many picks as we can get in these first 4 rounds!!!

They can’t turn those players into playoff wins because they can’t build a complete roster. Three studs, seven solid guys, and 43 Jags isn’t winning much of anything.

The Cowboys should 100% take less in a trade if they have too. Getting the extra pick is worth it.
You might have to help me out with this one BDC. Isn't this the whole point of the post that the trade chart isnt as accurate this year so the Cowboys should be open to taking less if they want to trade back? I may be misinterpreting these two posts, but it seems like you're playing both side here....or just trying to get Coogi riled up ;)

It's his devious way of thanking me for including him in the post!!

In previous years maybe the talent was better and it wouldn't cost as much for a team to trade up with us, well see how fair things are this year for a team that wants to move up/team that wants to go down and what compensation they'll receive .

I think he mentioned last year we traded down a few spots and were able to nab another 3rd round pick, will teams stay put knowing that there's not much of a difference in the talent you can get without trading

Every video I've looked at over the week, and comments on here about the lack of TOP TIER talent in this draft just isn't there. Outside of a few blue chip players - Jenty, Carter, Graham, Hunter maybe one or two more, the rest of the guys appear to be guys you are in love with, but not deeply in love with.

The Cowboys have mentioned trading down. As fans we would love to get great value for moving down (extra second or third round pick), but would these teams be willing to give up that much in this year's draft?

On the other hand if one of these top players began to fall and Jerry's hand started to itch, would it cost us much to go up a few spots to get a falling player?? In years past I think we'd have to give up a fortune, I don't quite see that happening this year.

I've borrowed the trade chart thread from a poster on here that I live for, and he lives for me too! I'm not sure this chart gets followed this year in terms of receiving proper compensation! Please give your thoughts!

This draft is one of the strongest in a long time. Not sure where you get your details from. Very good talent available in WR, RB, DL and LB this draft. All positions the Cowboys need help in. If other teams feel this draft isnt to their liking. I would be more then happy to trade 5, 6, 7 rnd picks to move up into the 4th round with more picks. There is definitely a lot of possible starters up to end of round 4 and beginning of rnd 5

Not sure if there’s a question there other than in the title.

The answer to that one, is no.
This draft is deep at CB, and RB. Fairly good at WR but no can’t miss guy. I’d never trade a 12th pick just to add late round picks. I’d only trade if it’s a couple spots and I had multiple guys I grade fairly evenly. Adding more later picks fills holes but lacks talent. We need talent more than warm bodies

Each team has their own draft value chart. So there are 32 versions of it. So it's never "accurate" or team specific.

YES the Cowboys should take less if they have to in order to make a trade. It's worth getting the extra player. That's just one of the things that needs to be done when you are inactive in FA.

Every team in the league will throw out the trade value chart after the first 15 picks in round 1. Want to trade into that zone for a player with a first round grade, you will pay the price, maybe more than usual.

After that, trading down will probably get you less than the trade value chart.

Also very deep in 1 Tech DTs.
If you want an impact 3 tech, better get those in rounds 1-2.
But if you want a run defending 1 Tech, you can get those into rounds 6.
