...does DE become more of a priority than CB with our first pick? I'm hoping Eli Harold drops to us...

They had the same number of visits with DE ranked in the 200 as they did with RBs ranked in the top 200. The only position with more was CB.

Harold is an interesting player for us. IIRC, him and Dupree are the only RDE types we have brought in

Something that they expected, to some extent, shouldn't significantly alter their draft day plans. Plus I'd still say don't over react to what's the NFLs first offer on a hardy suspension.

I would offer that DE is a bigger need than CB. The Cowboys lost both Spencer and Selvie, and while they weren't great, they did play a high number of snaps. Hardy will miss some time this season, and that leaves you with Lawrence and Mincey as far as players with experience at DE. Hardy and Mincey are both signed only for 2015. Adding another talented edge player will improve the secondary and protect the future of the team.

I think when you look at the Cowboys propensity to draft with the intention of replacing currently under performing high priced players, with young talent, CB is still their first option.

I also think you look at the fact they can get the second or third rated CB versus the 4-5 rated DE, if that, and probably not someone suited to WDE play, they'll go CB if one is there.

Yeah your probably right. Unfortunately, I can't see us picking him up for RDE with Dlaw there.

They say DLaw is much bigger now. Even last season he looked like he can play to the strong side to me. DLaw was a terrific run defender in college.

IIRC, they said they were going to play Hardy at RDE with DLaw/Mincey at LDE.

I can see Mincey on the left side, didn't see DLaw there but Garrett did say that's where he would play. Maybe they were looking at Harold for the WDE spot like you said. If Hardy has good production with his games he will be demanding big bucks for 2016. At this point they would have the option to let em walk and have DLaw on the left and Harold at on the right.

In this case Hardy is a half year rental.

If they don't draft a pass rusher in the 1st, I would consider Danielle Hunter in the 2nd. Yes, being an LSU DL does scare me, but I studied his game footage and he is a unique player. He didn't have many sacks in college, but in watching him, the way they used him was the primary reason for it. He is really good against the run which is normally the problem for tall, lightweight super athletic pass rushers. I think he could really thrive in Marinelli's scheme.
