Witten retirement speech

Fun fact, I was in my second go around of 4th grade when Romo and Witten entered the league.

Well, technically my first go around of 4th grade when he got drafted, but his first game was in my second go around of 4th grade.

One of my favorite all time Cowboys player, a hall of famer, total class, total pro, tough iron man and one hell of a football player.

I have been around long enough to remember how long the TE cupboard was totally void of any talent before Witten came along.

You don't know what you have until it is gone.

Football players like Witten are few and far between.
Very true....most in the NFL are uneducated, got by solely on athletic talent and are selfish. Most of those types of players end up broke and resort back to living how they were raised, in the streets...slinging and dealing or end up selling life insurance, being a wrestler, doing manual labor or being a bouncer/body guard. Witten doesn't have the rings but he has earned his respect.

It was a great speech. He had a Great Career as a football player and now he can be the best at something again if he desires. He pretty much played every snap for the Dallas Cowboys for 15 years. That's something no other te in football can say. Not to mention all the time for the community and Leadership on and off the field are some of the other reasons I think you deserve 1st ballot Hof Recognition. You played every snap for 15 years and I hope you have a long and glorious career as a broadcaster or coach where you can be the Best you can be for even Longer than 15 years. I think Jerry should go ahead and formally announce you into the Cowboys Ring of Honor Immediately. Going out on top is the Best decision for your future and the teams and going forward and I'm actually way more excited about watching #82 call a MNF game while Gary Brown dials up the run out of a spread offense like he did as a rb for the Oilers.

Someone likes to generalize.

And I wouldn’t call most of them selfish as the majority go broke because they give away their wealth when they shouldn’t. Mostly to family.
