His paycheck bounce?

If not, he's no victim

Only thing he was guaranteed was those 16 game checks, like every other player who survives a full season on a roster

You fans need to look at sports for it is... entertainment and for those who perform... it's a job

There are no such thing as a 'champion'. The postseason is a big a scam as the preseason.

No victims

Romo's rich

Dez has made money

Lee's made good money

Witten's made money

Where can I sign up!

While this is all true I’m sure they all care about winning immensely

I can't say there is much to feel sorry for when it comes to Witten. He's had an incredibly long career, making tens of millions of dollars, and is a HOF'er. So he didn't win a SB - I think he'll be just fine.

I said it in past years but Jones really did guys like Romo and Witten a disservice by how they managed the roster, coaches, etc.

I truly believe Jones' ego cost Romo and Witten real chances at SB runs.

They just signed Witt to a 3 year extension. He lives in one of the most influential neighborhoods right up the street from me in Westlake called Vaquero in a mansion. I'm sorry I can't feel sorry for him. Players use to go above the coaches and complain to Jerry all the time. He could do that if he wanted to! Please???? Lol

Sucks he didn't get a ring, but they should feel sorry for the fans, paying those ridiculous ticket costs all those years, with not much playoff success. True suckers.

So true. I hate the Cowboys but you just HAVE to respect Witten. We freaking drafted LJ Smith before Witten and I used to live on Witten ave just to rub it in my face a little bit more. LOCK HOF'er. LOCK!

We’re even. I hate the egirls

I highly doubt Jason kept coming back to win a Superbowl with this franchise. He loves the game and the cowboys. Nothing much was expected the last 3 years from this team.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I feel very sorry for Witten a lot. He has been a consummate Cowboy.

But I wonder if this is karma for all the false starts he has accumulated over the years.

Just saying.

I love Witten, and I do feel sorry for him, BUT I also recognize that he and Romo were the two biggest advocates for the two catalysts responsible for these years of losing - Garrett and Jerry.

Not once did he or Romo call out the glaring inadequacies from the head coach like when Troy Aikman publicly and privately defied Switzer and Gailey.

Not once did he or Romo call out the amateur decision making and structure of our front office like Charles Haley did when he physically threatened Jerry during the Emmitt holdout.

Charles Haley loves Jerry more than anyone, but he loved winning a lot more. That's why he had no issue bucking at Jerry. Same with Troy who is an intense competitor. God love them but Romo and Witten have been toeing the company line their entire careers.

In Romo and Witten's defense, they toed the company line because they were being paid millions of dollars to do so.

I think both of those guys knew that the chances of winning a ring under Garrett was slim and none. So they had a choice, resign new contracts here and make millions upon millions of dollars or take a pay cut and go play for another team to get a ring.

They chose money over a ring.

I have a lot of respect for Tony and Jason in that regard. They stayed and suffered with the rest of us. They are true Cowboys.

Love Witten, but it's time for us to move on. We've got to get more athletic and dangerous at TE.

This is the best point made in this entire thread. Don't feel sorry for anyone that chooses to stay. They chose the money and with that money came a subpar team under the salary cap and they knew the consequences period.
It's kind of like if zeke called up his ex girlfriend and said you wanna get high tonight, I'm not doing anything for like the next 6 weeks.

Yes these are all true.

But all you have to do is have played a sport or listen to anyone whose ever played a sport (Especially at the highest level) and you know it's not just money. Yes that's the big pay off (No pun) to go out there and get beaten up l like that but they anyone worth anything plays to be a champion.

You want to win that title and be called the best.

Don't think it meant a ton to John Elway? Ask Dan Marino about how great it was to not win one.

If you're not out there playing to be the best that you can be, and be part of a championship team then I don't know why the hell you'd grind like that and put yourself through all that.

Money is great but you can always make money.
