Ditto, I just hope Jer and gang lock him up soon for many many years.Hostile said:Both are talented. When talent is virtually equal you go with the better character. Shockey is a character. Witten has character.
Jason Witten.
They will. They aren't stupid and letting him go would be stupid.adbutcher said:Ditto, I just hope Jer and gang lock him up soon for many many years.
I just re-read the thread started December 29th on this subject. I didn't see this. Was it another thread?LaTunaNostra said:About a year ago there was a longish thread on this board that ended abruptly, and perhaps appropriately, when a very respected member and excellent football analyst wrote something to the effect that we could be Witten fans all we like, but that we all knew darn well if we could make a straight up trade, we'd take Shockey. In a heartbeat. (Paraphase.)
That is not true today. Some still would take Shockey, as he is the rarer talent. A combination of agility and strength, with deceptive speed rarely found in a te. And with an aggressive hunger to win as well.
But many of us I think would take Jason now, and some of us did last year. Soft hands, polished routes, improving blocking, extremely high coachability, and great football instincts, not to mention the personal character and commitment to team make JW less "wow!", but a better bet for long term productivity.
The final chapter of this one won't be written for a decade, or more - if the HOF is in either's/both's future.
But I put my money on JW last season, and will keep it there.
It had to be way earlier than that.Hostile said:I just re-read the thread started December 29th on this subject. I didn't see this. Was it another thread?

I like the new mittens. The pink had me raising my eyebrows.dargonking999 said:Witten is better than Shockey, talent Shockey has a slim advantage, but as far as on the field Witten takes it. He is willing to do evrything for his team. Shockery just wants his name in the scorebox.
Witten everyday.
