Witten watch

Dallas Cowboys tight Jason Witten (1,020) became the second tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 career receptions and the youngest tight end to reach the milestone (33 years, 215 days old) last season. Tony Gonzalez (1,325) was first. Witten needs 83 receptions to pass Isaac Bruce (1,024), Andre Johnson (1,053), Reggie Wayne (1,070), Terrell Owens (1,078), Tim Brown (1,094), Cris Carter (1,101) and Marvin Harrison (1,102) for the third-most all-time.

If he stays healthy and plays 3 season, including this one, I don't see how he does not retire as 3rd or 4th all time in receptions.

Turned out to be a decent third round pick.

Yea, I can't see him not playing another 2 years at a ~1TE production wise, in terms of catches.

Dude still has the route running as we saw in TC.

Andre Johnson and Anquan Boldin are still playing as well. Their career totals could determine where Witten ends up in the rankings for career receptions by the time he retires. Still Witten should be top 5 or 6, which ain't too shabby.

He needs 83 to be 3rd? Shouldn't take 3 years. This year and next and he is well over 83

Yes, but the list is not static. Larry Fitzgerald has the same amount of receptions. So. my example is he plays 3 years and ends up 3rd or 4th, depending on Fitz.

That catch against Seattle where he reached over the defender and grabbed the pass from Dak was amazing. I've never seen Witten do that. As great as he is, That was a first for me. I remember Bennett whining about Witten and Romo being friends and he looks to him all the time. Yes. Exactly. Because he knows Witten will catch it. He's a Hall Of Famer and Bennett was too busy being a goofball. One of the best plays I've ever seen was the play against Philadelphia when his helmet came off and he just kept running. Good stuff

You can throw Larry Fitzgerald in there too. Andre Johnson looks about done as the #4 receiver with the Titans.

Amazing, one of my favorite Cowboys of all time. I could see him sticking around quite a few more years too if he chooses. I wonder if he decides to hang it up whenever Romo does, but hes more than capable of being the primary te/fb blocking specialist and still catching some balls into his late 30s. Wouldnt it be awesome to still have a 39 year old Witten as our TE 2 and primary blocker in short yardage packages?
