(CNN) -- A Southern California woman was in jail Wednesday after allegedly drugging her husband, cutting off his *****, throwing it into the garbage disposal and turning it on, Orange County police said.

For a guy, I would say this is as bad as being raped is for a woman.

You broach an interesting point.

A woman cuts off her husband's *****, and people, especially the men, joke about it. Sometimes, we even go so far as to wonder aloud what he may have done to deserve it.

However, when we hear about a man engaging in female genital mutilation, we treat it as the most heinous and despicable crime there is. We want the assailant to suffer the worst permissible punishment, and we certainly don't joke about it.
