See, I agree. I am not a Florida fan and I am not a Tebow fan. All reports during camp by the media was that Tebow couldn't throw and the team wanted Orton who many players were quoted as saying was way better than the other quarterbacks on the team.
That being said, when Tebow came into the game last week, it was just like when Romo came in for Bledsoe. It was like the team woke up and hope returned. Tebow was unimpressive in the second half but he made his team better than they were with Orton. Sometimes, it's not just about performance.
I agree though .. Tebow gives them a better chance to win even if it's not from his actual performance.

I didn't think Tebow looked great but if I were a Denver fan, I'd be happy to at least see him look alive after watching Orton sleepwalk for an entire half.
People will look at the stats and laugh but Tebow had a pass for about 30 yards, get bobbled too long and Lloyd's foot slipped out of bounds as he was coming down. It wasn't quite a back shoulder throw because it was right at the DB who wasn't even looking but Lloyd made a play on it, a great play by the way, but just couldn't secure it.
On the very next play he was scrambling and threw the ball in the face of pressure and lead his man about a step too far from having a 90+ yard TD. Decker dove and probably should have made the catch. It would have been a great catch but he laid out and had both hands on it. I'm serious though, just a little more air under the throw and he has a 90 yard TD because there was nobody for Decker to beat.
His screen pass to Moreno was a really good play on his part as he waited in the face of the blitz as long as possible to set the play up. He took a hit from Weddle I think but he gave the OL and RB enough time to get out and set up. This play by the way is just sweet because Moreno completely annihilated a DB. I'm talking Marion Barber on Archuleta style.
Now, he did have some bad throws. He threw a 15 yarder onto the toes of his TE that would have moved the ball. He threw another pass at the feet of a receiver. He also had trouble with the snap at times.
All in all though, I'd say he gave the team a spark and got Denver right back into the game. In fact, if not for one of the worst penalties I have ever seen get called Denver might have gotten the ball back down 2 points with around 2 minutes to go. I swear, ever week there's a penalty or two or a call or two that just makes me want to turn the TV off. I think AJ Green's supposed TD while rolling OB and losing the ball was one of them because maintaining possession through the catch has been a big emphasis and he definitely did not maintain possession. How the opponent didn't challenge, I dunno. And then this penalty was probably the other.
I wish I had time to post it but for some reason my audio card isn't feeding audio to the picture when I screen cap. But, a Charger OL literally pushes a Denver LB in the face at the end of the play. Deliberate as all hell. The play was ending just before it happened so I dunno if the penalty should have been on SD or not but how in the hell it was on Denver is beyond comprehension. The LB is pushed in the face and of course he comes back and says something to him. He goest face-to-face and I guess he came in too strong with the crown of his helmet, didn't even faze the OL, but here comes the flag. Just awful. Divisional game with the score only 2. Would have been 3rd and 5 at the 37. I thought there would have been 2:00 left but it likely would have been a minute and some change. Anyhow, just a horrible call.
All-in-all, I think Tebow played well. It's gotta be hard to be the coach and see a guy struggle in camp but you gotta remember that Tebow basically lives off of extending a play until someone breaks free. You don't have that in camp because QBs are off limits.
I'll be interested to see how he does. I really only root for the guy because I want to see him succeed in the face of such ridiculous hate. I agree the praising of him as some humanitarian is out of control. I think I remember one announcer say that 10 minutes with Tebow could change your life or something like that. Little overboard but that's not going to make me hate the guy.
Oh, and Rich Gannon might be one of the worst commentators out there. I actually had someone ask me if it was Matt Millen because he was saying some ridiculous stuff, particiularly around Rivers' fumble late.
