Wonder if the lack of pre-season play impacted the offense being a bit out of sync

It was week 1. A lot of offenses were out of sync today.

The heavy rain also made it more difficult.
:hammer:

There is nothing I saw that leads me to believe the offense will fail next week

Not to take anything away from their dominance but the Defense… almost the exact same players everywhere, same playbook, same coaches. Heavy rain plays to their advantage. They were just picking up the remote control again.

Actually many coaches say the first game is the hardest to get a feel for how their team will play. They spend all training camp and preseason putting it together but have no idea what kinks need cleaning up until the first real contact.

I think we saw most of week 1 that offenses were behind the defenses. Typically that changes a bit as the year goes on. In a game that starts to get out of hand like that thought I wouldn't worry too much about what the offense looks like, especially with rain being a factor.

Overall I was happy with the offense, but you get up 3+ scores and while you don't take your foot off the gas you still start to be smart about what you put out there. For the most part you're running your base passing concepts and run plays.

The first time you step on the field and it’s raining. They were going to be out of sync and slow starting anyways. They don’t play actual football until yesterday. Just practice. But our Defense played well..

1. Heavy rain most of the game
2. Giants play an aggressive D which can make things difficult at times.

i thought the offense was fine minus a couple of missed throws and easy drops.

I think so ......remember this most of these guys first time seeing any live-action. I know some will say you can say the same for defense but that's a bit different. Either way, I'm guessing/hoping we will see a much outing next week.

Here's what Sirianni said about the Eagles offense.
“I’ll definitely reevaluate some of the preseason stuff next year,” Sirianni said in his postgame press conference. “You know, I know they played the first two years that we were here, they only played one series against the Jets in 2022. Maybe I should have played him a series or two this preseason, and I already wrote that in my notes. I’m constantly self-evaluating myself. And I’m not promising anything, and I know y’all will remember this conversation and play it, and that’s okay. But I have to — I’ll reevaluate that. You know, second thought, if I had to do it over again right now, I would say, yeah, I would have played starters one or two drives in the preseason. But next year will be a new thing with new situations and new everything, so I’m not worrying about that right now. I’m just got it in my notes to think about right now though.”
probably. that and the weather. also being on the road.

they didn't need to be aggressive. perhaps the difference between MM and Moore. we passed the ball 24 times. smart move by MM, knowing its wet, catching is difficult, footing is tough. injuries happen as a result. we are up, just play conservative. get out healthy with a win.

There was only 1 player on the offense that looked out of sync.
3 dropped passes but I guess you messed those
The offense wasn’t sharp and I think weather and no game reps played into that
I hate not playing so many guys in the pre season. Game speed is impossible to duplicate in practice

The horrible rain conditions that does not show up on HD is what caused it.

The oline played pretty well
I don’t like not getting reps in pre season for the passing game. Just can’t duplicate game speed in practice

It was kind of weird how it was back-and-forth depending on the angle of the camera. One second, you could truly see how much of a downpour it was, the next second with a different shot it looked like no rain at all. LOL

The dropped passes need to get cleaned up. Maybe getting reps in preseason would get the receivers ready more, but Ferguson got preseason reps. So did Turpin. I was surprised how badly Ferguson and Hendershot played last night. Let's ope that is not a season long thing. We may see Schoonmaker more next week.

Last night was essentially the dress rehearsal for the offense. They'll be better next week and the team will have a ton of confidence against the Jets. A Rod going down.

According to all the Sunday games I watched most announcers had the same thoughts that the morning games weren't scoring like usual, due to lack of real game experience.

When they film shots in the rain in a movie, they now have to go digitally and add the rain back because you can not see it in most angles.

It's the way the light reflects off rain in HD.

Across the entire NFL, only three teams scored on their first three offensive possessions. The 49ers, the Cowboys, and weirdly the Seahawks, who never scored again. Those other teams weren't playing in a downpour.

The weather was bad, there was probably some rust, there were pretty egregious drops, and by halfway through the second quarter, there was no reason to be anything but conservative. Don't read too much into it, or anything that happens week 1.

Absolutely.

Looking back to last year, it took most teams 2-3 games for their O's to really get in sync.

Burrow was pretty bad last year in the first couple games also, losing both and putting up 20 and 17 pts.

It seems like the drops were a big part of keeping them out of sync. Hard to say with the weather. I personally enjoyed the fact that I couldn't predict the play every single time for once.
