Wonder what they were saying about Tyler Smith a year ago?

In other words, very few, if any of the mocks or draft gurus ranked Tyler as a day-one pick.

Just put this in context.......A guy at The Athletic just did a 2022 re-draft. Tyler is selected 6th overall as the first O-lineman taken

This guy got it right.....

Projection:

NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board rank: 60th overall, 2nd round

Projections are kind of all over the place for Smith. He’s ranked 73rd overall on PFF’s board, was 85th on Dane Brugler’s back in mid-February and ranked 97th on NMDD just a few weeks ago. In other words, it looks like he’s firmly in the Day 2 category and it’s just a matter of if that means a late second-round selection or early third.

Schematically, the Tulsa product has a good amount of work to do in pass protection and would likely benefit from playing in a play-action-heavy offense as a rookie. As a run blocker though, Smith is a very intriguing prospect. I think he has the power and strength to be effective in a gap system and I like what he brings to the table as an outside zone blocker, so he’s somewhat scheme versatile in that regard. That being said, teams that run a lot of inside zone might be skeptical.

Dallas has had more than a few stinkers. Taco, Tristan, etc. So has every organization over an extended period of time. Overall Dallas has a pretty good batting average.

I'm to the point where if Dallas drafts someone, I'm going to trust them until proven otherwise. Dallas has a better recent drafting record than the people evaluating them.

Especially if it's in round 1 and offensive line. They knock those out of the park.

True be at the rate they blow their 2nd round picks its disturbing. I mean, some of these guys cant even get on the field they draft.

They just need to completely rethink what they do in the 2nd round. Stop reaching and take BPA if they have to. Just so they dont blow the pick.

2nd round for the Cowboys seems to be when they want to draft a splash player. Last season it was between Sam and Tolbert. Can you imagine the board outrage if we drafted Tolbert in the second. It is amazing the Cowboys seem to draft guys in the second lately that appear to not understand how to play their position.

Mosher didn't even really get it right. He just said "keep an eye one" and in the same tweet thread said he didn't see what they liked in him at all lol

Trystan Hill was a late 2nd Round pick.

Marcus wasn’t a big fan of T Smith, IIRC, but his podcasting partner Landon was high on him.

Lots of people with hot sports opinions have been wrong the last couple of drafts with Micah and Tyler.

Why not just start trading the 2nd pick for a future 1st???

Yep , 2nd picks who never fulfilled the faith placed - Smith (LB) , Hill, Gregory , couple of TEs before , lastly bossman - CB ,who was a dud.

looks like we are snake bitten with respect to 2nd round.

Tyler is going to be improving dramatically over the next couple of years. I hope they keep him at LT.

I remember people saying that he was a penalty machine, and would only make yellow flags a bigger problem for our offense.
I haven't looked up stats on this, but I think that for a rookie he performed very well without to many holding, jumping offsides, etc. calls.
I'll go out on a limb and say he's a keeper.

they said he was a holding machine lots of others said it was a reach and then some said "who"

however he was a plug and play tackle and held his own...like any rookie he had his downs but he was up WAAYYY more hes solidified a tackle spot
