Wonder what the timeframe contracts must be extended/resigned so they operable under old CBA rules. Since we just hearing today about Newman & MBIII signings, I assume we've got at least until tonight. Didn't I read within last 2 days that, while we close to negotiations with Newman, we also sent proposals to MBIII & Hamlin. Well, with Newman & MBIII on board, is Hamlin next? Think Canty & TO will also get done at some point but both contracts will be for less then the 2 today. I'd expect TO to be signed for similar money to Randy Moss. If possible Canty probably gets a little more then Ratliff.

If I have to make a guess, I'd say that Colombo probably won't be resigned cause that's why we drafted 2 OTs in last 2 years (Marten is going to OG). It's a shame cause I really like Colombo; he's a trooper & good guy who will give us everything he's got.

:starspin Hopefully, Colombo won't price himself out of Dallas, but who knows...

The NFL owners announced Tuesday in Atlanta they will opt out of the current CBA agreement. All contracts completed after 3 p.m. (CDT) on Tuesday would follow the new rules, which would've prevented the Cowboys from prorating his signing and roster bonuses past five seasons.

OK. Sounda like any change in the CBA won't affect TO cause I doubt we sign him for more then 3-4 years, with option to release after 2 w/o large salary cap hit. Maybe we thinking of a 4-5 year deal for Canty; maybe same for Hamlin? Hmm. With Ware having 2 years left on his contract, there is time left to evaluate CBA situation so maybe there is no rush. Besides Henry will be gone after 09 season, Glenn after 08 season, Colombo (unfortunately) probably after 08 season unless we can work something out & RWilliams after 2010 season--if not before start of 09 season. Also think Ellis contract runs out after 09 season but his isn't a biggie anyway.

I think it was Archer that said deals had to be done by 3pm, not midnight.
