Considering what the original WW outfit looks like I hardly consider this version as being tricked up. They simplified the costume. I doubt this actress would look convincing in a traditional WW costume.

Captain American has basically the same look too from WWI. It hasn't hurt his box office.

Yes, exactly. A bold, bright color scheme would really highlight just how skinny and narrow this actress is. They can kind of camouflage it with duller, darker colors.

I think her costume moving away from the "American" look has a lot to do to with with this movie (among others) catering more and more to the international audience.

I don't believe that to be the case.

They are taking "super hero" movies and are trying to go "epic"and dark with everything.

I agree. We also don't know what direction they are going with the character. Perhaps she starts off in this outfit, but then transitions to a more traditional look in future movies.
