When Jerry Jones announced Wade Phillips as the new Head Coach in 2007, he stated his primary reason was because of Phillips' defensive mind, and the Cowboys' current 3-4 personnel already in place. From that I expected a defense that played consistent football. I'm zero concerned with numbers that can be manipulated to fit a situation. Bottom line: can you get an offense of the field when needed? Force turnovers? TACKLE? Have people fear you defensively? And can you schematically confuse your opponent...at some point?

No, I'm not about to ask that the coach be removed, but I wondered today what JJ must be thinking on the plane ride home.

I'm blessed to operate a thriving business that serves the needs of lots of people. If I don't meet the demands of my contract(s), I'm held accountable! I deliver, or someone else does. And I understand that.

Just Wondering...

Wade's defense has been underwhelming in Decembers past. I really thought they turned a corner this year, but today was an undeniable setback. I'm still willing to wait and see whether today embodies what the defense will be about down the stretch, or if they can return to what they were doing last month.

As for your overriding point: Yeah, if Wade's defense falters the rest of the way like it did today, it'll be one of the many reasons he will be -- or at least should be -- fired at season's end.

Rainman, it wouldn't bother me if he remained as coach, I'd just like to see his area of expertise become dominant.
