I'm surprised that Dallas hasn't brought in Cory Wooten and Alex Carrington in for a visit. I wish Dallas would bring in both guys. I know both are probably nothing more than jags but they are young jags and both have potential in this scheme. Neither has gotten any serious offers and they could probably be had for cheap. Dallas could spend their top picks on the Dline and concentrate on building a rotation and come at offenses in waves. I don't like the idea of spending big money on Henry and would prefer that Dallas stays away from paying players big money.

I wouldn't mind bringing in Adam Carriker for a look @ DT; he's got impressive athleticism for a big man. Or at least, he once did. Not certain about his status now...

I like both and think they would be very good rotational players here. Bringing in both on relatively cheap 4 years deals actually wouldn't be a horrible deal if we don't land Melton

Wootton is a less than average starter. His pass rush is abysmal. Last season he had over 800 snaps and had 3 sacks. Not a good ratio. And consider he played 300 snaps at DE and had 1 sack.

Pass on Wootton.

Carrington isn't anything special either.

Sign Melton and Ayers... They are far better options.

I don't want Melton. Coming off ACL and has yet to hear anything from the NFL about all his off the field issues this past season. This guy could still get suspended.

Ayers I would like to have as SDE rotational player. Also if Carrington, Wotton, and Carriker are cheap enough why not for depth and rotational players.

Peppers just got paid alot more than we could offer, i doubt we can over pay for Melton anyways.

I would like to see Dallas pass on Melton. To many $ for a guy with ?
This guy could still be suspended for all his off the field issues plus coming off ACL.
Peppers just go paid big money, no way we should pay Melton anything close to that.

Bring in the following and continue to add depth and rotational payers and then look to the draft for good players.
Ayers
Carringotn
Carriker
Wootton

Also a guy no one is talking about is Shaun Phillips. Might be a great fit as a pass rusher only.

I wouldn't want to see the Cowboys pay Melton $7 mil a season.

At this point you can't sign every DL JAQ out there... No matter what (except injury of course) Selvie and Crawford are getting roster spots. Hayden is probably assured of a roster spot.

You've go the two guys that they just signed. You're up to 5 spots taken.

You're probably going to have at least 2 draft picks make the final roster... that's 7.

And we haven't talked about Bass or any of the other defensive lineman that played last year (not that I'm high on any of them).

Bottom line there's about $7mil in cap space left as of now. I would just as soon see the Cowboys spend that money on 2 decent lineman rather than scrubs if at all possible.

Me too, throw in the safety Chris Clemons, Damian Williams, and call it a day.

Clemons signed with JAX
Carriker has a serious injury problem- 3 surgeries and 2 games played since 2012

I still want Melton and a couple high draft picks

After the money Peppers got I doubt Melton is going to play for 2 a year. If so I would take a chance on him but it that was the cast he probably would have signed with Minny or Seattle by now. Looks like he is taking all these trips like Hatcher did trying to find the team that will pay the most.

I agree you can't pay them all but these guys I mentioned aren't going to cost alot. hayden I don;t think is safe to say he is back or even Bass.
No I don't want them to sign all the ones I mentioned, thats the list I want to come in, two maybe 3 of them at the most. Ayers and Carringotn or Carriker will be fine whom ever is lower, about the same player. I ould still be interested in Shaun Phillips but he probably wants to much also.

I would say that if Melton doesn't sign with Seattle his price is going to come down. Buy hey he could sign with Seattle.

But we're close to entering the 2nd week of free agency, and the guys that aren't signed by then will start seeing the value of contracts decrease. And in some cases substantially.

Peppers just signed a 3 year deal with green bay, its wasn't chump change.

Correct.

But we're not into the 2nd week of free agency either.

The guys that don't sign in the next couple of days will see smaller (and in some cases) much smaller contracts.

True but that won't be melton. He has offers from Oakland, Minny, and Seattle. Dallas is going to have to over pay to get him. I don't want dallas to do that.

I agree with that. More than $5 mil a year and he can sign elsewhere.

From what I've been reading about Carrington, people think he's got some good upside and would be a possible value/bargain for what this stage of FA offers money wise. It wouldn't hurt to bring him in and see for themselves but I'm sure they've looked into him and have either decided he's not someone they would want or he's down on the priority list.

I've hear mixed things about Wootton but his productivity was terrible, he could be rotation guy I guess but we need pass rushers and he's not that.

As far as Clemens goes, isn't he a strong safety and don't we need more of a true FS? I've never watched him so I have no clue, just according to descriptions.

There were reports that Dallas was interested in Ayers at the beginning of FA, what happened to that?
