"Even though the Cowboys lost their fourth straight game this past Sunday, I thought there was reason for some optimism for Dallas' offense. Yes, Matt Cassel threw three picks, but a couple of them were down the field, which means he was at least looking that way, which is an improvement over what they got from Brandon Weeden. I also thought their offensive line played their best game of the year. The pass protection was great and the run blocking was almost as good. We're going to focus on the run blocking this week just because good run blocking is generally more entertaining than good pass blocking. We got a lot of GIFs this week, so let's get right to it."

Good write-up. I especially like the part about Collins.

That GIF where Collins just swats that linebacker is incredible. Definitely doesn't look he has the feet to play tackle, but he is a bruiser inside.

Haha. He just pops him with one hand and just totally knocks him off his feet. It's awesome so I went ahead and put it on imgur so I could just link it here:

My God we are really lucky to have an offensive line like that. We all killed them, but it's evident they just needed an NFL caliber quarterback under center. Not even a good one.

I agree. That's the mark of a stud. We will have the top line for a while. Now we just need some luck with health.

Benefits of having one of the better defenses in the league.

Yep, and scoring a lot of TD'S. Harris and Talib are killing it. Best secondary in the league IMO. Remember when Wade was here and we complained we never got any TO's??

By the time all the contracts need to be extended we likely wont have Romo

And this team needs to continue to draft OL, even in later rounds, to keep a healthy pipeline going. We should be taking at least one OL in every draft IMO.

Plus it helps that Smith is on a very team friendly deal. Interior OL don't typically get paid exuberant amounts so it can be done.

Phillips always kills it when he inherits a defense. Remember this is a franchise that won with Tim Tebow, so it is not like he took over a bad defense, same when he got Parcells' defense with Ware and Ratliff in their primes. Once they get picked apart in free agency and Phillips starts recommending players, it will regress, just like it did in Houston and Dallas.

Or they play NE. Remember his D down the middle? Soft. I remember that one SD playoff game with NE and SD was killing it, and then BB figured out the middle of his D was soft. It happened here as well.

Should have re-hired Wade as DC....he has always been good at that....its the head coaching part that has always failed him.

I don't think he would have accepted that. He has a little bit of an ego hiding behind the self-deprecating façade. It is not like he would debase himself like Dave Campo did coming back as a secondary coach.

As Muth contends, there is just cause to be somewhat more optimistic about our chances going forward but for success to follow, we must discontinue doing all those things that threaten to ruin our likelihood of finding success.

Suffering turnovers, only to fail to inflict the same fate upon our opponents, won't do anything to enhance our opportunities of winning the games that are about to follow. Offensively, the same can be said for the drive-killing penalties that occur just when they begin to click. Hopefully, our guys will eliminate the blunders and get on with winning.
