Word of Muth: Eagles' Run Game Dominant Against Cowboys

Maybe if our offense didn’t spot them points and field position, and instead got up on the Eagles, they wouldn’t be running RPO in the fourth; and maybe forcing Hurts to sit back and throw the ball because he can’t.

I could post a tape of the 2nd half , showing the Cowboys O-line dominating the Eagles overly fat front seven.

Interesting take considering the Eagles averaged 3.5 yards per carry, and the Cowboys averaged 5.2 yards per carry. It is easy to cherry pick some plays that worked and say what a great job everyone did. But the Eagles had only 268 yards of offense, hardly a dominant performance.

Eagles 2nd touchdown
9 yd run
3 yd run
8 yd run
2 yd run
8 yd run
-1 yd run
15yd pass TD

Eagles 3rd touchdown
13 yd run
5 yd run
1 yd run
5 yd run
5 yd run
1 yd run
5 yd run
6 yd run
3 yd run
2 yd run
0 yd run
22 yd pass TD

They ran it down our throats on two of their three touchdown drives.

Cold hard facts.

Some people are in denial how the Eagles ran it down our throats. Just like Dan Quinn being in denial that we don't need bigger DTs to better help plug up the middle of our D-line. Sounds like another Marinelli. The results are still the same: getting run up the middle over and over.

Right. You get it too. . Players and coaches get better at stopping plays the more they see them.

By that “logic” the Eagles will also be that much better after having had more practice running RPO so Quinn will still be behind and not be able to stop them

:muttley:

Quinn would have been better playing the quicker/faster younger LBs than the old and slower ones. He hasn't even figured that out yet.
Hasn’t even?

That implies he hasn’t figured out a lot. While I think you’re right about the younger faster guys I think he’s figured out a lot.

The LBs is not the only issue I have with Dan Quinn. He's another Marinelli in thinking smaller DTs can stop from being run up the middle on, which hasn't worked. So, yes, in my view, "Hasn't even" means there are several things Dan Quinn hasn't even figured out yet. Marinelli Jr.

Bo is pretty big.

Ben Muth analyzes offensive line play over at FO. Every year he picks three teams to focus on; the Eagles are one of those teams this year. So the focus is squarely on the Eagles OL, not the Cowboys, but it's well worth a read.
39 for 136 at 3.5 yrds per carry. The one series where we needed to stop the run we did not - that's for sure but their run game was not dominant at all other than that. Is that the most important? well yes because we gave the ball up 3 times but absent 3 int's and that effect, their run game was not even close to dominant!

Yes, but we need another big DT (which we already had in 5th round pick, John Ridgeway, but Quinn obviously didn't care enough to keep from getting cut and now playing for the Commanders). Bohanna gets tired, so he has to alternate with a much smaller DT. That's when opponents with good Olines and RBs are able to run it up the gut against us, especially if they go hurry-up Offense once Bohanna is getting a break on the sideline. It's amazing how these NFL coaches with so many years of experience don't get that, yet they get paid millions per year for this? SMH

Come on man. Our D is pretty damn good, no?
