I read this yesterday.

Man, I don't like Airbus planes. They think they made some illogical choices in designing them.

This I guess is just another one.

The world's largest passenger plane may not be sky-worthy, some aircraft engineers in Australia are saying.

The BBC reports that the engineers are concerned about small cracks that have appeared on the wing ribs of some Airbus A380 airplanes, and that they're calling for the whole fleet to be grounded for investigation.

The cracks were found on A380s operated by Singapore Airlines and Qantas Airways, the BBC reports, and Singapore Airlines says it has repaired the wings of two of its A380s.

I think I read a few months back that Airbus is also 100% computer controlled...

There is no manual over-ride should something go wrong... Boeing, MD and Fokker have manual over-ride...

*This* is what I was referring to when I said "illogical choices in designing them".

I agree. I just can't bring myself to fly Airbus planes. This one looks like an eye sore and just scream "I am to big to fly."

No way!

That sounds comforting.

I'm a Boeing Aerospace Engineer, but work for the military division. We receive boat load of internal information about our competitors and I have no intentions to fly Airbus airplanes, ever, but that's just me.

Are they used by specific airlines? How do you know what kind of plane a particular airline is using during your flight?

its very easy, when you look at the flights online, it will tell you what type of aircraft are scheduled.

...of the first units being delivered to Japan.

I'm hoping to be in one this upcoming fall for my annual business trip to the Orient. Executive cabins look awesome.

Yup, you'd be flying in style for sure. I love the interior layout, even coach class isn't that bad, lot more spacious compared to previous version for 7-series airplanes.

...the Winnipeg, Canada plant regularly where some of the composite bodies are made. Great fibreglass work being done there.
