Okay, Peterson and Quinn are off the board before the 6th pick. No one wants to trade up to the 9th pick and we are essentially stuck.

Do you reach for a player or do we take significantly less trade value just to get out of that spot?

I think alot of us are assuming that we can just easily trade back if we don't get our player. But it takes alot for that to happen.

Thoughts?

Cam Jordan would probably be there in that case

Yeah, that would be worst case scenario then. 3-4 defensive linemen with the 9th pick. Ouch.

depends on what you call "less value"

if i can get to the mid/low teens with a 2 or 3, i take it

Best offer is 16th pick and and an extra 3rd.

Cam Jordan or Carmini works for me, both are 10 year starters in the NFL

too many people get caught up in the whole reach thing. Taking a guy ranked 20 at #9n is NOT a reach. Taking a guy ranked 155 at #9 is.
Neither Jordan, nor Carimi, nor Sherrod, nor Justin Houston for that matter are a reach at #9.

Hell look at the Jags last year, scolded by a poor as hell media about "reaching" fpr Alualu(even though he was probably a 1st round talent) then he plays lights out. That shut up the experts quickly who are now eating crwo, wont apologise for their poor evaluations themselves, and are saying what a great pick it now was.

So your post indicates that if QUinn and Peterson are gone then we are screwed??? Im not sure Quinn will be picked in the top 15.

Sign me up for Von Miller

I was unaware that Alualu played "lights out"

I Agree, however Houston may be a slight reach there

Justin Houston has two failed drug tests. I'd consider him a reach at 9.

How about this: just do not pick. Pass. If we cannot trade out for anything decent, and no one is left we think worthy of that much money, we just pass for a few picks.

he more than justified his pick at #10

I respectfully disagree. They reached for him, but if they are happy with him that's cool. Spending the 10th on a 4-3 DT or DE makes a heck of a lot more sense than spending it on a 3-4 DE, that's for sure.

38 tackles. 3.5 sacks.

But hey he was justified at 10.

By time the combine comes and goes, there will be plenty of players "worthy" of the number 9 spot. Von Miller and Prince both come to mind right now though.

Dude, you are clueless. You obviously have 0 idea of what you are talking about. Alualu had a phenomenal year..he absolutely justified being picked 10th..
