Worst final 4 QBs in quite some time

Championship weekend is traditionally reserved for the greatest QBs facing off against one another in an effort to qualify for the SB. With this season's crop including Bortles, Keenum, and Foles, I got to wondering - how long has it been since the majority of the final 4 grouping has been this underwhelming at the QB position?

Just looking at recent years for some frame of reference:

2016 - Brady, Roethlisberger, Ryan, Rodgers (this could be as good as the final 4 has ever been)
2015 - Brady, P. Manning, Newton, Palmer
2014 - Brady, Luck, Wilson, Rodgers
2013 - Brady, P. Manning, Wilson, Kaepernick
2012 - Brady, Flacco, Kaepernick, Ryan
2011 - Brady, Flacco, E. Manning, Kaepernick (underwhelming, but still undoubtedly better than this year)
2010 - Roethlisberger, Sanchez, Rodgers, Cutler
2009 - P. Manning, Sanchez, Brees, Favre
2008 - Roethlisberger, Flacco, McNabb, Warner
2007 - Brady, Rivers, E. Manning, Favre

Yeah it's brutal. With how the NFL (Goodell) behaved this year, they deserve it. Ratings will suffer again. They've been naughty all year and this is their gift.

Total defense:

1st - Vikings (Keenum)
2nd - Jaguars (Bortles)
4th - Eagles (Foles)

I'm guessing those aren't coincidences.

Agreed. Still, even great defenses have struggled to carry dead weight at the QB position in recent years. IMO, it's a result of very poor to average QB play across the league.

I agree on the QB play across the league. That's why I'm not on board with the people ready to toss Dak aside for the next big thing out of college. If finding a QB was that easy, we wouldn't see half the guys we see playing in the NFL now.

What is interesting and something that no one is talking about is that the Jaguars have Coughlin and Perry Fewell (former D coordinator of Giants) on staff. Both of these coaches have beaten the Patriots. They know how to do it. I will smile if it happens again. For all the love that Bellichek gets, Coughlin has absolutely owned him in the biggest games.

I think the hardcore fans are enjoying this.

I really want a Vikings and Jags Super Bowl.

If the Falcons and Patriots play again then something is up.

You got that right, seeing as how the Falcons were eliminated yesterday. :muttley:

2011 wasn't Kaepernick, it was Alex Smith.

It's refreshing to see some new faces. It means most teams can get to the final four if ya have a good defense or a combo of Bill/Tom

Be thankfull that Roth or Rodgers isn't there

Good, I hope the Patriots lose[I don't really hate them like other people do, in fact, I like them]
But I'd love to see a Vikings/Jaguars superbowl. And the nerve of some people..I hear fans talking about "ratings" as if a fan should care about that.
