wait you do realize that not scoring is a factor in point differential right? and not taking up clock time on offense, and turning the ball over? How is bad qb play not a huge factor in the final score?
I never said otherwise lol

Learn how to read.

wasnt Sweeny the scab quarterback? I thought that was 87, I guess he got another year with the team from that weird tryout
Yeah, Pueller was QB the week before and after, so I guess he must've been hurt.

I think Kevin Sweeny may have the worst stat line in the history of Dallas QBs...at least at home

10 for 28
93 yards
0 TDs
4 ints
06.1 QB rating

:lmao:

The Eagles game on 11/19/17 was actually very similar to the loss yesterday. Look at the stats. Dak sucked, defense sold and Ryan Switzer had big kick returns like Turpin did yesterday.
Dak and the Cowboys set a Cowboys-worst record that season by going 3 straight games scoring < 10 points.

The 89 Cowboys never got beat like we saw yesterday or even against New Orleans. The 89 Cowboys never lost by more than 23 points and never gave up more than 36 points. When the current Cowboys get beat, they get their doors completely blown off. Every time we start getting manhandled we quit. This team is a joke!
89 was my first year having season tickets and I didn’t see a lot of competitive football that year. But I went to every game.

The last 4 home games rival 1989. Really, they’ve been worse than 1989 - I stayed to then end of every 1989 game and that’s not the case these past 4 games. The longest I’ve stayed was yesterday, leaving after the 1st drive of the 3rd quarter.

My never miss game each year has always been the Eagles. I simply hate that team and their fans worse than any other. But I have an acquaintance that’s a HUGE and rabid Eagles fan and, unless this team is competitive the next 2 games, he’ll be going in my place.

The team was worse in 89 but I don’t remember a game where they got destroyed like we saw yesterday. The worst defeat they suffered in 89 was 28-0 to New Orleans in the opener.

Sure, the offense shares some of the responsibility in a game like that.

But to stop the large margin you are asking the offense to score on every single possession. It is an impossible ask. There is simply always going to be games where the offense - of any team - isn't going to come out firing and the defense has to give them a chance to get right.
They scored 3 field goals. This isnt about scoring on every drive, this is about the combination of a historically porous defense and a historically inept offense

Why do you people say such stupid things? What is with the incessant desire to blame the defense giving up a scoring drive on every possession on the QB?

It is the dumbest thing imaginable.
what is really dumb are the Dak bots insistence that everyone else is to blame but Dak

I remember the sign in the crowd during the strike in 1987 - White's a Weenie, We Want Sweeney.

Good times.

I guess Dak's turnovers led to 10 points, the other 28 were on the defense.

They certainly were worse, but they were as expected. Even with their shortcomings, the current team is far and away more talented, probably at every position save for the QB.

There is absolutely no excuse for this team to be as completely non-competitive as it had in the past 4 home games. The problem is, with the guaranteed contracts and the CAP, there is little reason to be think a change is forthcoming.

That said, something has to be done to try to effect a change and the only real possibility is a coaching change.

Yes, it is about scoring on every drive, when your opponent is.

This is clearly a more talented team than the 89 team but the effort and desire simply isn’t there with these players. This is not a tough, physical team. I do believe some of the players are overrated. We were getting beat up before we had the injuries.

For you trivia buffs, here are the 5 worst HOME losses since 1988

1) 38 pts. 10/13/24. (QB Dak Prescott)
2) 33 pts. 11/18/01 (QB Ryan Leaf)
3) 28 pts 11/19/17 (QB Dak Prescott)
3) 28 pts 11/19/20 (QB Andy Dalton)
5) 27 pts 11/23/89 (Troy Aikman)
5) 27 pts 9/3/2000 (Randal Cunningham)

If anyone is curious about that 1988 score
40 pts 11/13/88 (QB Sweeny)
current cowboys since 2015 continue to set new franchise records, usually for bad stuff.

This is just total nonsense. Why do you people make so much stuff up.

Their first-half scoring drives were:

70 (TD)
58 (FG)
63 (TD)
39 (FG)
38 (TD)

They didn't start a drive in Cowboys territory until is was already 20-3. It is impossible to respect any of you people because you do not live in reality.
"You think that asking the QB to score on every possession with no run game and receivers who can't get open" ... I guess the Lions are lucky their QB isn't making $60M /yr and the Team has $ to afford quality (awesome) RB and WRs.

Sure, you can point fingers at the front office for not building a solid team around #4, and I totally agree—they really messed up thinking they could give one player the biggest contract in the NFL and still have a decent supporting cast. But let’s not forget, the greedy QB is a big part (the other half) of the problem too.

The Cowboys will keep struggling until they shake up the front office (nature will take care of that) and move on from the QB (it seems only time will take care of that as I don't see Cowboys terminating his contract early) He’ll be out in four years, and while the current front office will eventually change, the next one doesn’t seem any better. So we might be stuck with the same issues even after 2028!
