Worst picks in round one...

It was a bit of head-scratcher when Cleveland traded up only 1 spot (real rare) from 8 to 9 to get Gilbert.
All I can think of is that Minnesota must have convinced them that someone else also wanted Gilbert that high. Otherwise, why hand them an extra 5th?
That seemed odd.

Yeah that was really strange, interested to know what they discussed.

Yes, it was a bit of a reach, but he is one of the more ready-now type OL in the draft after the top 4.

What are your thoughts on Smith going that early? I really liked him but not that high. I thought he played smart with power and good closing speed. My original pet cat.

That's certainly what it was, and the only reason ever to trade up one spot. And after you've already raked in a great haul for trading down, spending the 5th for insurance to get your guy doesn't seem so bad.

It's Buffalo's trade up that strikes me as the worst move of the night, by far.

yeah. I absolutely love Watkins, but that was sheer lunacy.

I thought Marcus Smith was a 2nd or 3rd round pick. At a minimum they could have traded to the end of the 1st round before taking him.

I dunno.

I had a couple tackles graded higher that him.

The one problem I have with him is that he's only a right-tackle. I don't see him having the athleticism to play on the left-hand side.
I think what Buffalo did at 4 with trading up to get Watkins giving up a 1st rounder next year for him.

The Giants taking Odell Beckham Jr. at 12 when Aaron Donald was there for the taking and yes they did need help at the WR position but imo Beckham was a reach there with the deep pool at WR in this draft.

I really don't care about what they do with their picks though :)

Marcus Smith was a reach. With that being said, I think he is the most underrated pass rusher of the bunch. They should have traded down and grabbed him.

Bucannon who has a lower ceiling than Wilcox IMHO, and Ebron.

Ebron is basically Calvin Johnson that never played football before... lol. Weird, weird fit.

James is probably gonna be a steal. Played very well at Tennessee and was insanely good on tape.

If we were there at 12 I'd have wanted Donald or the trade down. I am glad the Giants took OBJ.
Solid player but doesn't help that porous OL or quickly crumbling front 7.

Exactly JT maybe it's their infatuation with LSU WRs Rueben Randle, and now Odell Beckham Jr. idk :D

I don't see Bucannon being a reach. He has more interceptions than Pryor and HaHa combined, has more tackles, is faster in every aspect of the game, and is a good student of the game. Absolutely a perfect match for the very good Cardinal D. I would not be surprised if he was on the Patriots and the Niners radar. They need big box safety's in the NFC West where the defenses are so far superior to every other conference.

I thought the WR the saints took was reach. Everything I saw was he was fast but he is far from polished. A little reach for a WIP type.

Maybe they did reach for Cooks but the Saints didn't trade the farm to get him like Buffalo did with Watkins, but Cooks benefit a lot more with an All-Pro, and sure fire HOFer QB in Brees, than Watkins who has E.J. Manuel talented sure but still an enigma at QB.

All I know is Marrone better hope this works out this season or he may possibly be out the door after the season his seat just got a little hotter after that headscratcher of a trade and pick.

Was anyone else watching the NFL network draft when Philly picked? Would love a GIF of the fan who had no clue who Smith was, who promptly sat down in confusion.

Loved it.
