Worst Possible Scenerio

When the little sideline chick announced it last night, I knew we were about to be blown out. It was just that simple. I knew we would be lucky to finish 8-8 this year. I dont care if you hate or love bledsoe or romo, this decision was the worst possible scenerio for both.

The timing of this decision actually killed several careers including that of both the QBs and probably the head coach.

We were five points down in a NFC East division game on Monday night football. We were a bad QB decision and a stumbling referee away from having a commanding lead.We finally had some momentum and were getting the ball to open the second half.

Then thousands of armchair cowboy fans got their wish. The Boys actually put in a QB with absolutely zero experience to finish the game. The momentum and confidence level of the Cowboys died on the first pass. We went from an opportunity to be in first place in the NFC, to the highest paid rebuilding team in NFL history.

Romo's popularity will continue to decline with each interception and bad decision. Romo's confidence dropped a few levels last night and will continue to slide until he is bunking with Quincy Carter.

Bledsoe will get out of the league before the season is over.

Parcells will go through the motions to finish the season

TO will now most likely become a real problem because of the losing record.

Players like Terry Glen will start looking at other options

The absolute worst possible scenerio for a team that had Superbowl hopes.

I guess you missed all the missed blocks on the O line. I guess you missed the D- BUILT TO STOP THE RUN- unable to do it. Trying to say changing the QB would have made the difference is to ignore all that.

I didn't miss all of that. My point was based on that.

Why would you throw that kid into that mess. He had absolutely zero chance of sucess.

Many weekend fans were fooled by scrambling shuttle passes in the preseason and delousions of Tom Brady, but even the casual fan had to know that Romo would struggle.

With Bledslow we are a 8-8 team. Let's see what we can be with Romo. Probably no better for this year but at least let's see a guy that can make a play at the qb position and no doubt he will have growing pains but he did make some good throws and moved the team down the field every possesion minus his first series. I'm so tired of seeing Bledsloe making bad decisions in the red zone when we need a score the most. Im all for the change.

superbowl hopes?

seriously?

do you think this team is superbowl bound?

some of you guys need to realize that we aren't going anywhere UNTIL we remove the "band-aids" at qb and really do something at that position.

at least starting ROMO now let's us see what we've really got with the kid for the rest of the year.

then we can draft/acquire what we need from there.

Bledsoe has NO upside at this stage of his career - but he would make a perfect 2nd or 3rd stringer.

Remember, BILL was the one who erred in his decision making process for our team. He thought we only needed a "bus-driver". He may have set us back a few years at the QB position b/c of it.

Like it or not - He was wrong - again.

In case you havent noticed this was the same old story with Bledsoe, its not like he hasnt made these stupid mistakes over and over.

You're right about it being the worst scenario for both. Bledsoe should have been benched after Philly. Period. Dead horse. Won't beat it. He will not quit before the season ends. Parcells should walk. Please. Or coach with some passion. He coaches like his Zoloft prescription is just a wee bit too strong.

As for the "opportunity to be in first place", not hardly. Have you not seen Drew Bledsoe QB for the last few years? Do you know why he was benched in the middle of such a vital game? Do you know what kind of negative history he had to have for such a benching to take place?

"Armchair Cowboy fans"? So let me guess, you aren't?

Going 8-8 with Drew was entirely possible. No big deal there.

Now we are going to find out what we have in Romo. 9-7 was prob best Drew could take us.

I have been visiting this board regularly, never posted before. After the debacle of last night, had to get involved. This team will not make a push into the playoffs, or ever go to the GAME, until it fixes a few problems, problems that some have been there for 10 years now.

1---fix that Offensive line. The glamour positions don't mean squat if you can't protect your qb or give your running back room to run. Rejects from other teams won't fix it. Old vets on the downside of their careers won't fix it. Do you remember the 92, 93, 94, and 95 seasons? Why were we successful? We had a line that dominated. Every team knew what play they were running, but could do nothing to stop them. The line had a nasty mindset and loved to maul people, whether it was run blocking or pass protection. We need that back. Flo has to go, Rivera needs to sit, Kosier is iffy. I don't know if Proctor or McQ's the answer but hey, lets find out.

2---Defensive line. The 3-4 works, as is evident in Pitts. But they have maulers in the middle that actually will blow people up. We need the same. People in the middle that have the nasty attitude and do more than stand there and clog the middle. We need a push. Remember what Leon Lett would do to the middle? Yes, he made bonehead mistakes but when he tried, he could change the game.

3---QB. I do believe we need more than a bus-driver. Most successful teams have more than that. Drew Bledsoe is not the answer but he could be very helpful in teaching a new kid the ropes and how to be tough. That is about all I want him to teach, however. Bad decisions is not in the game plan. I don't know if Romo is the answer, but let's find out. Remember Aikman's first year? He got the snot beat out of him, we lost all but 1 game. However, he learned and grew. I WILL NOT compare Romo to Aikman until he proves to me that he belongs in the same class. But, at this point, we don't know. Let's find out. Yes, it will cost us games, yes, we will have growing pains, and yes, it will get frustrating. But I saw something last night that got me excited. When Romo came in, you almost could feel the difference in the players on the field. They were excited and felt that they could over come the score. I live in TN and have seen the same with the Titans when Young came in. But now that the change was made, don't go back. That will hurt the team more, imo.

4---TO. I can't believe we signed him, and I can't believe we kept him. Great player, basket case otherwise. Would rather not have him on the team but hey, I don't get to make personnel decisions. The coach, who is to be in charge of the team, needs to make a stand and tell him to shut up. Want to get involved? Then catch the ball when it is thrown to you. You want attention? Then make plays. He did make some last night but not enough to warrant all the other distractions. I will leave that for now because I could go on and on.

5---Coaching. Bill Parcells has been good, but not great, at coaching. He is a master motivator, however, he seems to be making more and more mistakes. He would make a decent personnel man but at this point, that is about all. Zimmer needs to change his style to fit the 3-4 if we are to embrace this. Sending everyone up the middle won't work. Change the approach and means to blitz. Send a delay blitz. Send the corners at times or the safeties or something. Not the same up the middle with everyone. Hasn't worked yet, and more than likely will not work. Offense play calling, go with what works. If you are running the ball and get a yard 5 times, then go to something different. I saw the screen pass to JJ and that worked like a charm. Why wasn't it run again? Other than the time he was held, it was not. I lay that at the feet of BP since I believe he calls the plays.

These are 5 key areas and all 5 need to be fixed. Can it be done? Yes, but it will take time. Are we patient enough for it? Don't know. I just know I am tired of this up and down play and not playing well in the games against teams that are good. I don't think the Giants are great but they played great against us. I think the main thing is they played as a team, not as individuals. We have great individuals but they haven't come together as a team. I think when they do, and when these areas are addressed, then we can start with the playoffs and SB talk again.
