Would anybody agree with me on this?

If we had the opportunity to draft a kicker who consistanly hit 50+ yarders late in the first round. We would now be 7-1 and first place in the NFL. The Jose Cortez era would never have come about.

I think winning 4 more games a season is more than any third string speed reciever or Free saftey is gonna do for us in one season.

btw his name is Nathan Crosby from Colorado

im about to get attacked.............

Suisham could turn out to be good, let's see what he can do. Honestly, I can't see Parcells drafting a kicker in Dallas.

I think when considering what positions to draft and where, one has to look at the history of the position with regards to the draft.

For instance, quarterbacks typically take a while to develop. A lot of top-10 picks at running back have been busts. Etc.

Is there really a good success rate with first round kickers? Other than Sebastian Janikowski, how many have even been selected in the first round?

I just can't imagine there's a kicker out there good enough to take that high.

You know this thread is soo stupid. Im so sick of these kicker/ we woulda won this blah blah blah....

j/k Good point. But I doubt that they will do that. JJ doesn't want to waste a draft pick on a kicker.

If you could guarantee me he'd turn out to be like the dude in New England, I might think about it. Otherwise, I think its too high.

Not in the 1st round I wouldn't. 2nd is iffy too. 3rd I'd consider it.

Yep. Tom Brady is just another Jim Kelly without him.

No, but I might consider drafting such a player in the middle of the second round although I'd prefer not to spend higher than a 3rd.

If one of the top kickers is not franchised this year, I'd rather just fork out the dollars and sign him in FA and use the draft on OL, LB and WR.

After seeing the types of key position players we snagged in the later rounds this year, and after watching undrafted "what's his name" on the Cardinals make everything he attempts, and I can't get behind drafting a kicker. In any round...

That's a very interesting observation.

A case could be made that this is true.

Rackers is a 6 yr vet who was drafted by Cincinnati in the 6th round in 2000.

Confused on the dates???

But if it were me I would seriously consider stabilizing the kicking situation. In the salary cap NFL a kicker who cam win close games in bad weather stadiums at the end of the season is worth their weight in gold.

Some people just don't understand how important kickers are to winning games.

Would I take one in the first round? Probably not.

However, Cortez should be enough evidence that good kickers need to be paid more than minimum wage....you get what you pay for.

We have been lucky in the past on some of our kickers, but let's start treating them with a little bit more respect once we find a pretty good one.....you'll miss him when you get one like Cortez.

I realize that most can't...

How many points have our losses been by? Combined....10.

How many of those losses were due to a missed FG? 2.

Nuff said.

How many of those losses could have been reversed with better personnel at other positions?

3.

Well....that is a given at every position. But, it came down to the kicker unfortunately.
