Pretty much most on this site agree that we have alot of talent on this football team. I beileve most of them would also agree that we have a top 5 talent base in the NFL. So what is the problem? Chemistry!!!!!!!
Would you guys overpay for not only Ray Lewis but also Brian Dawkins???? Forget about Ray Lewis for a second because I know hes been talked about already, but Dawkins was the Ray Lewis of the Eagles. If somehow we could bring both of these guys in I think that would improve this team by leaps and bounds. We could use a saftey as well. The salary cap is 127 million dollars I believe, we should be able to find a way. These two guys would clean up the room by the time camp is over.
I think where we got messed up at was thinking that the team who has the most talent should win. Our team the last two seasons are prime examples of how wrong that is. Even though on paper the signing of these two players might look a tad bit dumb with their age and wear and tear being what they are, but the abilty to lead could be just as valuable as a first round pick. Looking back at the past couple Superbowl winners and you see Pitt. Everything on that team stays in house. You dont hear about players fighting with each other etc etc and when a problem does occur (Fancea) and a player is interfering with the team chemistry, they let them go. If Santionio Holmes did not produce they way he did after he was caught for drugs I really think they would have released him too. Look at the New York Giants. They only started to win when team killers Jermey Shockey and Tiki Barber were not there. They were a freaking mess until the media darlings retired or had an season ending injury. Last, the Patriots, what else can you say about them. The only negativity (besides Spygate but im talking from a team perspective not NFL) you hear from them are why Belicheck always wears hoodies or is so miserable. I know at times Brady's gf might pop up in the media but its still nothing like here. Ill give you a hockey example. Im actually from Philly and a Flyers fan and they have alot of awesome players but looking down the roster there sits a guy by the name of Riley Cote. He plays every game and is never scratched. Your asking what the big deal is with that. He has 1 goal in the last 150 games. Hes the guy in the locker room that patrols stuff and at the end of the year he usually voted most liked, hardest worker and also for stuff off the ice by the media and teammates. He stands up for them as well, I think he has about 50 fights over that time frame. The Flyers made it to the Eastern Conference finals last year with a young, young team and beat the best player in hockey team, Alex Ovecheckin. Would Jerry Jones employ a guy like Cote? I would say no, instead, he would go out and sign a guy like Jermey Roenick who is brash and can turn people the wrong way in the room. Roenick does have more talent though and the abilty to score than Cote, but Cote works harder.
So, in closing, Dawkins might get 4-5 million and come in and be a back-up and maybe play speacil teams. Is that money well spent even though hes really earning it on Mon-Sat than on Sundays, or do we keep stockpiling more and more talent and forget about the room? Opinions
