With all of these new rumors swirling around Elliott threatening to sit, perhaps this gives us a better excuse to wait until next year with Prescott. Assuming he wouldn’t sit out too.

I’m not sure we really want to go into the season without Elliott if we’ve just signed Dak to a new contract. It could be a tough situation if our QB struggles after opening the bank for him but not Elliott.

Thoughts ??

It's the same conversation as Zeke.

If Dak thinks he's underpaid - he is - his only recourse is to hold out. Dak might have less leverage than Zeke because he's not an elite player at his position, but he can make a pretty easy case that he should be making ~$25m more than he does today.

The should/shouldn't and morality of it don't matter. If he wants more money right now, the play is to hold out.

Daks made 27 mill in commercials and endorsements ALL because hes a Dallas Cowboy QB....he will get $..probably more than he deserves at this moment....let's just hope..with a full camp and more time w Amari, return of pro bowl Center the oline is a strength again...a merging top defense, new spread open offense...Dak can prove his worth

So , if Dak isn’t going to hold out then we could pay Zeke now with like a 3 year extension . Which really isn’t that bad considering he has two years left and might have Tagged him one year anyway.

I’m just trying to figure out how we avoid Zeke sitting out.

Who doesn’t think Elliott is under paid now?

No. He is going to get paid eventually and he is going to make twice what Elliot is going to make every year.

I am starting to think that he may want to play out this year or at least part of it. It’s a risk reward, he wants the security of having that long term contract and guaranteed money. But if he plays this year, even at the same level he played last year then his stats are going to be better because the team around him is going to be better. A whole year with Cooper and a time improved WR corps around Cooper. A O-line that will be healthy and complete. His worth will be even bigger and the new contracts will drive the market values up even more. If he played very well and markets go up then his contract could be in the 37-40 range. Depends on if he wants to be greedy and chance the potential for injury.

Elliot isn’t going to hold out. He may not show to TC but he will be there game 1. If he does then there will be available RB that will get the job done. Elliot will end up looking worse than bell.

He's definitely underpaid. But the system is setup to underpay RBs and never have to pay a premium for the position. You can pay him what he's worth, but you're putting yourself at a disadvantage relative to the other teams in the league.

Yeah he is under paid for what he has done. I would give him a new 5 year deal that eats up his next 2 and actually only extends him 3 additional years. Give him his guaranteed money and a big chunk of it as a signing bonus. But his money to be paid this year and the 9 million for 5th year is included in the deal. He is set to make 12 million in the next 2 years. 3.9 this year and 9.1 next. So that 12 million is to be given as part of his signing bonus. Or added into his next 2 years of yearly average.

Amari & Dak on last years..Zeke has 2 plus a poss franchise tag...Zeke isnt gonna sit

Not exactly what a team leader should do.
This. I do not recall any QB in a hold out and I think that would get treated differently by the fans and media. Even threatening that would be really poor form.

And then there's those endorsements, that QB's get more than anyone else, to consider.

I wonder if bell regrets losing that money by holding out. He could have a bunch more money in his bank account.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dak and Amari bet on themselves this season. With Cooper's talk of wanting 2k yards it seems to add up for me. I could see them both signing during or just after the season.

Edit: Including Dak's comments on there being enough money for everyone I wouldn't be surprised if that's the plan.

Zeke's new deal is going to be 4 yrs /60-70 mill. 25 mill signing bonus. [TGurley was 4yr/57.5 million]

He's owed 12 million base from his current deal. So that would be 25 bonus + 12 existing GTD = 37 million GTD.

70-37 = 34

so 34/4 = 8.5 million base salary per season.

Not a bad pay day for Zeke.

PAY ZEKE!

Very small chance. I mean, there is a chance he could blowout his knee and have his career on the line, or suffer a major concussion that knocks him out for the year.
I think they get a deal done before at the bye for Dak.

Unless he would have been injured and that affected his value to other teams or the Steelers.

I think he did do too much ego thinking because of what Brown and the QB were getting and in the long run, left some dough on the table.

I don't think so. I think he is confident a deal will get done. I think it gets done next Monday to Wednesday. I was listening to the fan and they had someone knowledgeable on who said it gets done by the start of the season.

He hasn't earned that right. If he does he will lose a lot of credibility with the team and the fans.

I think Dallas' biggest mistake was waiting and not getting this done before Wentz. Before Wentz last month I really think Dallas could have got Dak for about 28-30 million a year. Now, I think it will be about 33 million a year which would put him at #4. Could have save a little bit of cash there. However, Goff, Mahomes, Watson, maybe Trubisky, and Mayfield will all pass Dak. That is 5 guys right there not including Andrew Luck (who will get paid soon) and maybe Rivers. Dak will be outside then top ten highest paid QBs soon. Get it done now.
