Would Dallas be king in an uncapped NFL?

i like the cap...i like free agency.

A few things I would like to do to the cap.....

1. Adopt a rookie cap....a 2 year contract, with set wages, based on where you pick (7th round picks get the league minimum). Once the contract is up, the player is an exclusive rights FA. Basically, the drafting team gets top priority to re-sign the player, sort of like the NBA's Bird Rights.

2. what i dont like is the lack of depth.....i honestly wish the roster size was 60, where a team could have 50 active on game day. then lower the practice squad from 8 to 5. Also, increase the cap a slight bit to accomodate the increase in roster size.

3. I am not sure if they do this now, but create a vet minimum for all players who have been in the league for a certain number of years. for instance...if a player has been in the league for 10 years, they get at least 1 million a year or something like that.

This is something like the Plan B free agency that preceeded the current plan.

Think about it this way - what market area does each team have.

The Cowboys have one of the larger areas for population base. Also with their teams of the past 50 years a large fan base - usually reflected in merchandice sales - if not the biggest in the NFL.

Yes other ownes could outspend for players.
But there would have to be some kind of restriction on what the owners can spend. If not we do go the way of MLB. And that is not a fun thing to watch. That and the drug issues are killing them.

Where in the world do you get the idea that Biggems proposal looks anything like the former Plan B free agency?

Under Plan B teams were allowed to "protect" a league-wide predetermined number of players on their roster. The other players all became available free agents.

Uncapped is not good for football

I'd rather try and win as it is today.

Agreed. I think the owners and union are trying to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs and get them all now and not have to wait.

Pro football is in for some "interesting times".

I think the Owners did deal with the players union in good faith. They were willing to allow the players FA and what they wanted in return was a cap to help ensure the league could maintain competitive balance.

I think Allen would likely be one of those guys that even though he could, he wouldn't necassarily spend loads of cash. He lets guys walk now, as is, so I could see him continuing to do the same, just maybe not as often.

I HATE the idea of a no cap. Mainly cause you'll have people going out there and just spending, spending, spending, and then all the sudden they're going to comeback with anew deal, a new cap, and all the sudden you're going to have to cut tons of money in order to get back under the cap.

No, no, no. I hate the idea.

Uh.............what Yankee's are you watching? They have more rings in the Steinbrenner era than any other team..............
Take you anti-Yankee bias to Google and get educated...........

Free agency, salary cap, and other "parity" measures have made the NFL into nothing more than a politically correct soccer league. How else do you account for us having to live with Tampa, the Ravens, the Viginants, etc........as SB champs, and such stallwarts as Carloina and Seattle in the SB????? New Orleans in the NFC Champ. game?????? 5-11, NFC Champ. Game, and back to 6-10 in three years..............THAT, my friend, is BAD FOOTBALL TEAMS and a ****ty league.
AND, to really spice it up, the only reason for all this "parity" crap is the 1991-1996 Cowboys. THAT'S WHAT SET ALL THIS BALONEY OFF!!!

If your idea of "good football" is a Cleveland vs. Atlanta SB, then you in heaven with free agency, salary cap, etc.............I think it SUCKS. This year is the poster boy for BAD NFL FOOTBALL. Nobody had the ****ty Giants on their radar screen, even to make the playoffs. Coughlin was hanging by a thread and on the way out the door. Manning was under siege. Tiki wrote a book about the chaos and dysfunctional state of a team in disarray. And, because of PARITY, this psychotic "team" wins the SB.

It's a fricken nightmare and a tragedy for true NFL fans to have to sit here and put up with the "best team" in the NFL being the ****ty Giants. All because of "parity".................

i think the nfl should be like any other buisness in america.let the free market determine how things go.i would eliminate the cap and let the market determine how any team spends its revenue.does a corperation or buiesness have a salary cap for their employees?...no it doesnt.

i would also eliminate the draft because it removes the freedom from a player to determine his future.the player now is at the mercy of playing for a team that calls his name on draft day.does fortune 500 companies have a draft on buisness majors who graduate college?...no

if the free market system just happens to make a small market team not competitve or cause it to fold...well thats the free market at work.

im sure coke would like to put pepsi out of buisness.

Question for zoners
If the league was uncapped. With our new stadium is there any team that could challenge Dallas and the salaries they could give. I can't really think of any. No team or stadium in LA, NY split between the Jets and Giants with crappy facilities.
The only ones that would challenge
Seattle- new stadium Microsoft owner
Houston- Large market, new stadium
Washington- Ditto
Philly- Ditto

But honestly, I don't think any have the exposure, the sheer size of revenue generating facilities that could compete if they wanted a player.

Cowboys are King!

Can we win it all.....now that is another question. :lmao2:

I guess you could consider the NFL is the corporation and each team a subsidiary of the corporation that abide by the rules and regulations of the NFL. As for salary cap in the business world are you kidding of course there is, a certain job may only pay so no matter how long you have been at that company. A file clerk is going to get paid so much if that person goes out and gets trained in another field they could advance but every job has a ceiling to it.

Yea but, the NFL is 1 coperation, I do not see anything good coming out of a league were there are haves and havenots. There needs to be a competive ballance inorder for the league to prosper. People in Buffalo, Cincinnati or even Pittsburgh would never have a chance in this league if there is not some time of limit on spending.

I agree. Those teams will end up being nothing more than minor league teams for the wealthier teams. They will draft players, train and developed them and then be off to teams who are willing to out bid them for the players services. Players do not have it bad right now they get the best both worlds that of employee and also that of contract labor
