Would Gallup be better if he gained 12 pounds and became our possession guy?

He's always been just ok at everything. He has the game of a physical possession guy but the weight of a deep threat. he's never fast enough to consistently separate. He's also not big and strong enough to consistently catch in traffic. he should play at 212 . he'll be better at catching in traffic. he doesn't seperate anyway. the strength will make him better at jump balls and fades. he'll be able to fight for the ball better over the middle and it'll help his blocking. He's about 197 and still can't separate deep unless a bad corner bites on a sluggo

213 would be better.

I see him as a poor mans dez. He's just 25 pounds lighter. the size would really show case his skill set

So he probably will loose even more quickness? Idk if it worth the risk lol CB’s already stuck to him like glue.

Sooo you want him to get slower, get even less separation, and have a lot of fat in his hands that ruins what grip he has?

He got hurt and changed . It’s happened to many players from RG3 to Dak .I remember him being healed but still tentative about paying.

..he can run, dodge, skip, jump..etc. But has problems with catching the ball. That's elemental.

Gallup being the size of Tony Pollard probably wouldn't help, maybe been healthy n confident would suffice.

Gallup is NOT a possession receiver; he won't fight for the ball.
He may have been good at one time, but he appears to be gun shy in traffic now.
He is a liability.

Well said. The big issue is the offense on passing downs will not be CONSISTENTLY good enough against the playoff caliber defenses with Gallup unable to beat man-to-man coverage. The book is out and it's pretty easy to see that based on how teams are playing us. It makes sense to sprinkle in more of Tolbert or Turpin to mitigate Gallup's ineffectiveness in the 3WR sets.

Gallup's performances have been subpar so far in 2023. He must return to his old self or be allowed fewer reps. That's the only way it works.
