Would Gallup be better if he gained 12 pounds and became our possession guy?

It’s time we played Tolbert much more. We need more from our WR2 AND WR3. Let’s see if Tolbert can add some juice…

You can't just pick a target weight for your ideal back, and then tell T.P. to get up to that weight. He just isn't a naturally big guy. Sure....he would hit that weight, but he would be "chubby" ( for a pro athlete that is).

Everyone has a "fighting weight" where they are at their peak condition of strength and quickness.....and T.P.'s is just a lighter weight.

If we wanted a bigger back, there were plenty of options on the Board when Jerruh took the 143lb D.V. option.

Gallup quits on routes, he doesn’t finish routes, just not good at running routes and he is not reliable at catching the ball all the time, it just goes to show that if you have speed and size coaches will still give you a chance and use you over someone who may be slower, shorter, even though the slower smaller guy runs great routes, catches everything and their IQ is off the charts

Gallup's catch percentage is consistent with his career, even the year he had a thousand yards.

I think what Gallup needs to do is regain confidence after his injury. It still seems to bother him in some way. I don't know if it's physical or mental. I still have faith in him and think he will be very productive in the 2nd half of the season.

Gallup can be streaky. There was a two week period this season where Gallup had 11 catches out of 13 targets for 152 yards.

Sooo you want him to get slower, get even less separation, and have a lot of fat in his hands that ruins what grip he has?
Agree 100 with bold above. They need to QUIT playing this guy just to save face....I called him toast last year....move the &%*( on from this guy!!! EVERY time he has one so-so game they like to proclaim that he's coming back to form....um, no...for whatever reason, someone let him run free. He CANNOT get separation when pressed.

THE BOLDED part stuck out the most, this is spot on!!!! They can also do this with other players, but we'll focus on gallup!!

Gallup will never be a possession receiver no matter how much he weighs.

Well said. The big issue is the offense on passing downs will not be CONSISTENTLY good enough against the playoff caliber defenses with Gallup unable to beat man-to-man coverage. The book is out and it's pretty easy to see that based on how teams are playing us. It makes sense to sprinkle in more of Tolbert or Turpin to mitigate Gallup's ineffectiveness in the 3WR sets.
Excellent point. We're making it too easy for our opponents. Running Turpin's and Tolbert's different skill sets at the 3rd DB will eventually pay off bigtime
