Would it cost too much to rent Gilly for a year?

Cowboys can’t afford Hendrickson with Parsons about to sign in about nine weeks. Eagles can’t afford him with Carter about to sign in nine months. The Commanders can afford him, though.
This would be the only, most likely scenario, for Micah to be willing to take less money and possible the same for Hendrickson.

We are still $30+ under the cap, so it is possible, but it would cause some challenges in the immediate future.

... I bet he's on the Rolodex. You know, just in case.
Yeah, he was at the Star shortly after the draft. I think it's likely already in the works.

At this point, he may actually be cool in more of a back up or part time role. A guy like him could really help the younger corners too.

Micah is getting 40 per season. Not a penny less. Hendrickson would require something in trade. Not a prayer Jones goes for that. Fortunately Washington has exhausted too much draft capital to be able to reasonably trade any more, even for a player as good as Hendrickson. Giants have committed to enough d-line. Their issues are everywhere else on the roster. He won’t be a Cowboys players, but at least he won’t be anywhere else in the division.

That's right...let him rest, teach, play, etc. I like Gilmore..he's a sneaky type player if you know what I mean.....

I think Gilmore has a handshake deal to come back here, probably in late August as camp winds down. Remember he showed up at the Star around draft time?

The Cowboys are going to want to see exactly where Diggs, Revel, and Butler are physically before signing Gilmore. But I don't think anyone wants to see a starting trio of Bland, Elam, and Mukuamu in the slot early in the year (though I do think Elam is going to surprise a lot of people).

If the defense was closer to being a real contender a guy like Gilmore would be a great addition and the money would be easy enough to work.

He is not going to put this defensive over the top though so I'd pass and focus on seeing what I had and adding youth and potential if necessary.

This is kind of the boat I’m in.

The cowboys aren’t one decent CB away from competing for a Super Bowl.

So just let the young bucks get experience.

Micah already told Jerry to talk to his agent. The less money thingie is a pipe dream.

His price will be going down. We’re in late June.
He didn't sign his $7 million deal with Minnesota until mid-August. Seems to me that he's willing to wait until someone meets his price, whatever that may be.

He’s going to be 35 years old did virtually nothing with the Vikings last season. He only started one game. What he got last year from the Vikings he’s not going to get that this year. His career could be over.

I have no idea what he's going to get. He could be unsigned because he's asking too much. He could be unsigned because he's going downhill. He's made a lot of money in his career. Some players would rather not play than play for less than they feel their value is.

As far as his playing time last year, he played 76 percent of the Vikings' defensive snaps (864 snaps), so looking at his starts may not be the best way to judge his value. Jourdan Lewis played 874 snaps for us, so I'd say Gilmore is looked at as a team's third corner at this point. That has value. I just don't know how much. Lewis got a contract that averages $10 million per year.

Pretty sure he lives in Frisco and was just working out. Don’t think anything imminent comes from that

I know Stephon Gilmore has been linked to the Cowboys and a few others. He would probably be too expensive. I know he's 34 but he's played well as of late. I like the way he plays....He got 7m last year with Vikings with bonuses up to 10M.
why? what would a 34 years old bring to the team. is this defense, one old gilly away from dominance and being a top 5 defense?

I definitely think that's possible, and the Cowboys don't want to take up a roster spot with the guy who really doesn't need to be in camp and at cut downs then they'll have the room and all the information they need to see how the young group does and preseason games and whatnot....

They got a lot bigger room than that by the way those three names you mentioned if they win the job sure but you're forgetting about Carson and there's been talk that maybe the Kemon Hall might have been one of the better show outs in Ota's and mini camps and as he was last year maybe he's going to take a step.....

I just think they want to get all these players as many reps as possible before they make a move like this... But I for sure wouldn't mind them bringing him in he may not be able to play a full season at peak performance but we could use him as insurance for sure..

It wasn't imminent ,but it means they had a talk, if it was imminent it had been right away ,you know what imminent means right??

they're talking about possibly had a conversation about him coming back after TC or preseason, if they feel they need him and he's available, they had a general conversation, that's all people are saying, no one thinks it's imminent because it didn't happen imminent means right now right away...
