I appreciate your level headed post, and I am NOT trolling. These are very important talking points as a fan and im not trying to come across as being negative. However, a few points if I may...
I am not sure if you have ever played organized sports. However, there is a big concept of being a team and coaches not showing favoritism. As a teammate, you work hard all year to get to the big game, then all of a sudden "hey let's take MVP out who got us here and put coaches son little Johnny in to try the game winning kick!"... It is NOT a good scenario. If little Johhny misses the kick and blows the entire season, you are going to have some absolutely FURIOUS people on hand.
Secondly, Tony is going with Jerry Jones to his grandson's games? That is creepy and uncalled for. It is a perfect way to start to divide the lockerroom. You also had Jerry last week saying something about how he can't believe Dak is getting experience. Really?!?!
Now in his interview after the Steelers game he says with a smirk that Dak won us one more game. If you can't read between the lines... I don't know maybe I should take what he said with a grain of salt. But, it definitely sounds like he plans on blowing this.
He also runs the risk of ruining a potential dynasty. Hopefully, smarter heads will prevail... Or maybe im looking at it all wrong. Any thoughts?
Thought? I'll start with this...yes, you're looking at it all wrong. Nowhere has anyone hinted at getting to the championship game, THEN making a change at that point. That's not going to happen. Jerry Jones is a big college football fan, and I've heard him quote Bear Bryant on more than one occasion. You ever hear TE phrase "dance with who brung you"? So has Jerry.
If a change is going to be made, it will happen sooner, rather than later, and it will be warranted by how Dak performs. As long as he keeps playing at this level, the job (at least for the remainder of this year) is his. If his play begins to slide significantly, which doesn't seem likely, then a change would be warranted.
What's so difficult to believe about his quote regarding Dak and experience? Did any Cowboy fan think Dak would get any appreciable experience this year? It's really been somewhat of a fairy tale. Had it not been for two injuries, Dak would have spent the preseason taking 3rd team reps. Nobody expected this to play out this way.
Finally, I've read nothing about Romo attending games with Jerry. You have a link to something like that? Even so, there's nothing really weird about it. Unusual, yes, but creepy? No. and it's silly to think that it would cause division in the locker room. Tony's been treated like family by the Jones for quite some time. Why would this be any kind of a eye-opener?
BTW, I did play organized sports all the way through high school...football, basketball, and baseball. I know all about teamwork and camaraderie.
