Would Jerry Jones dare to screw this up?

Listen to this clip with Shannon and Skip as they discuss Romo and Dak. Skip is saying they are treating Dak worse than any Rookie in NFL History. Basically, they are using Dak until he loses one game to put Romo back in.

However, putting Romo back in after what has happened (8-1) is setting up both Romo and Jerry Jones for the humiliation of a lifetime. So how do you guys see it playing out?

I posted after week 4 that the ENTIRE time Jerry and Jason have misled Dak into thinking he can win the starting job... They have one intention only and that is to insert Romo after the next loss and basically use Dak to try to get Romo his ring even though no one will respect it.

Why else won't they declare Dak the starter as Skip has said? How many here believe that Jerry will screw this up before all is said and done?

They won't declare him the starter because they know he is an easily replaced back up. Beer gut fans are easily fooled, former quarterbacks like Garrett, Linehan and Wilson aren't as easily impressed. I'm sure they think he's doing a good job but they know they can put the other guy in and do just as well.

I don't think Dak will be pulled for just one loss. Jerry and Jason respect the current version of this team too much to only give it one shot. I think what Jerry is mostly referring to when talking about Romo is having someone you can bring into a playoff game if it's just not working for the QB.

Man, just stop with the trolling.

It's obvious to everyone that Dak is the starter. Unfortunately, you think that he should be declared "starter for life". It just doesn't work that way. It could play out that Romo gets the starting job back. I don't expect it to happen this season, and it dang sure isn't going to happen after just one loss. However, if we start seeing opposing defenses shutting Dak down, forcing mistakes, etc., it would make perfect sense to see if Romo could stem the tide.

Like I said, I don't look for it to happen, but stranger things have.

By the way, your comment about "nobody will respect it" isn't cool. If it ends up playing out the way you fear it might, and Dallas gets that 6th ring, people will respect Romo for it. Why wouldn't they? If it plays out that way, that means Romo QB'd the team to at least THREE playoff victories - including the Super Bowl.

Chill and enjoy the ride. If Romo ends up starting again, it will be because Dak gave him the opportunity.

I appreciate your level headed post, and I am NOT trolling. These are very important talking points as a fan and im not trying to come across as being negative. However, a few points if I may...

I am not sure if you have ever played organized sports. However, there is a big concept of being a team and coaches not showing favoritism. As a teammate, you work hard all year to get to the big game, then all of a sudden "hey let's take MVP out who got us here and put coaches son little Johnny in to try the game winning kick!"... It is NOT a good scenario. If little Johhny misses the kick and blows the entire season, you are going to have some absolutely FURIOUS people on hand.

Secondly, Tony is going with Jerry Jones to his grandson's games? That is creepy and uncalled for. It is a perfect way to start to divide the lockerroom. You also had Jerry last week saying something about how he can't believe Dak is getting experience. Really?!?!

Now in his interview after the Steelers game he says with a smirk that Dak won us one more game. If you can't read between the lines... I don't know maybe I should take what he said with a grain of salt. But, it definitely sounds like he plans on blowing this.

He also runs the risk of ruining a potential dynasty. Hopefully, smarter heads will prevail... Or maybe im looking at it all wrong. Any thoughts?

You must be a teenager if you are taking what Skip and Shannon says as fact.

Short of a super bowl win, this whole situation will be seen as having been screwed up. If Romo regains the job and doesn't win it all, it will be seen as they should have let Dak play it out. If Dak keeps the job and doesn't win it all, many will say Romo would have finally got it done with this current team.

First of all, stop watching or believeing that crap. Please!

That won't happen. Jerry has his team leaders he talks to and listens to. They will tell Jerry this is Dak's team now and don't put Romo in.

This isn't that hard to figure out people.

Thought? I'll start with this...yes, you're looking at it all wrong. Nowhere has anyone hinted at getting to the championship game, THEN making a change at that point. That's not going to happen. Jerry Jones is a big college football fan, and I've heard him quote Bear Bryant on more than one occasion. You ever hear TE phrase "dance with who brung you"? So has Jerry.

If a change is going to be made, it will happen sooner, rather than later, and it will be warranted by how Dak performs. As long as he keeps playing at this level, the job (at least for the remainder of this year) is his. If his play begins to slide significantly, which doesn't seem likely, then a change would be warranted.

What's so difficult to believe about his quote regarding Dak and experience? Did any Cowboy fan think Dak would get any appreciable experience this year? It's really been somewhat of a fairy tale. Had it not been for two injuries, Dak would have spent the preseason taking 3rd team reps. Nobody expected this to play out this way.

Finally, I've read nothing about Romo attending games with Jerry. You have a link to something like that? Even so, there's nothing really weird about it. Unusual, yes, but creepy? No. and it's silly to think that it would cause division in the locker room. Tony's been treated like family by the Jones for quite some time. Why would this be any kind of a eye-opener?

BTW, I did play organized sports all the way through high school...football, basketball, and baseball. I know all about teamwork and camaraderie.
