Via my tinfoil hair curlers:

Jerry offers Tony Romo and our first for Houston's first.

The Texans had a lousy season last year, so they aren't good enough to trade for a vet QB. They aren't a QB away from contending for the Super Bowl, so I think they opt to rebuild.

Not sure how often this needs to be said: the Cowboy are effectively married to Romo for at least the next two years.

If the Cowboys trade or release Romo before June 1 of this year that would trigger a $32.5 million cap charge (based on his $25 million signing bonus from last year ($20 million of which has yet to hit the cap) and the $12.5 million bonus payment under his restructured deal).

Cap gurus, please correct my numbers if I am wrong.

I'm confused...is this an actual rumor or something you pulled out of your backside? If it's the latter, the thread title is horrible.

Why would the Texans do that? They have a chance to get a QB they can build around & have for years. Tony is 30 whatever with recent back issues.

It would be a 41 million cap hit to trade Romo.

The NFL won't allow the Cowboys to play with a roster of 30 players which is what would be required to get under the cap if Romo was traded.
