Would more spread formations help?

No question Dak is struggling with accuracy and confidence. The question is HOW TO GET HIM GOING? Beating chests and/or tooting horns are not answers. Right now he's all we have. Just me and I'm certainly no X and Os expert but I can't help but wonder if you more spread formations that will loosen defenses that could open the running game a bit more. Also, I know Rico is still raw but hell everyone has raved about his pass catching ability. Why NOT give him some decent snaps as an easy target for Dak. His wide catch radius and height can only help. Nothing major but damn I saw a tweet where Panthers had 8 players in the box. There has to be a way to take advantage of that, especially with Austin and Tompson speed.

I think one of the major issues and the reason for his regression is the coaches playing not to lose. There is a big difference between playing to win and playing not to lose. They constantly talk about protecting the ball, which you must do, but I think Dak is afraid to pull the trigger. He played well his rookie season before he was "coached up" now he is reluctant to make the throws he made his rookie year. That is why he is holding the ball too long and making poor throws, in that split second he is second guessing his decision.

Maybe he isn't that good either, but the coaches do him no favors. They have not implemented an offense that plays to his strength's, they implemented an offense based on their philosophy of ball control and conservative plays.

At this point I'd rather see more I-formation and play action bombs off it. Even incomplete deep passes make the defense think about it.

The Cowboys attempt to run a spread offense looks like high school, probably because we're doing it with coaches who haven't made their living off it.
