Would moving Bennett to tackle make sense?

Bennett is listed as 6'6", 275. Put 25-30 lbs on, and he could be a good player. I'm guessing he has the feet for it. If it works, he could make a lot of money...

And he doesn't seem like much of a receiver.

In the 50 or so years of the Cowboys' existence, that change has worked once that I can think of: Rayfield Wright from TE to tackle. Not sure it would work again.

We can test that theory first by lining him up outside of the tackle and have him take on the end/olb a few times. At various times during a game, a TE will be matched up against the best pass rusher, which usually ends up a nightmare.

Many Tackles come into college as TE's; but the number of TE's that make it to the pros and become tackles? Nope.

Besides I frankly doubt that Bennett has it in him to do all that work.

He's a very good second tight end that blocks very well for us. So no he's going to stay where he is.

While I'm against the idea; largely becasue I can't see Bennett agreeing to it (he loves the TE position) its not a totally dumb thought. For the record, Jason Peters was a 300lb TE at Arkansas and the Bills drafted him and converted him to a LT. We all know how that conversion is working.

The problem is that Bennett would need to gain roughly 25lbs, and we would have to invest a full year (if not two) in the switch. I'm not sure the team or Bennett is willing to do that. I do believe that Bennett is a freak talent but is just a kid mentally. I'm not sure he gets it. I think Bennett's best position is that of TE, but I'm hard pressed to find another player that has done so little with so much talent.

Bennett is gone after this season...he is looking at being a starting TE for someone.....

It would be interesting to see how he pans out for some other team given the opportunity to play a bigger role and be the #1 TE.

Right now....Bennett is a solid blocking TE.....and since being drafted he has never had a chance to take over as the #1 TE here.....Witten never misses a game

don't laugh....our very own GM...Jerry Jones...has said that Bennett could be an outstanding OT. So that means that it has at least been discussed.
