Crawl back under your cactus Jack. You lost touch w/ the program upon your graduation. You never looked back. Its obvious.

Maybe next year...pull for them Cats. We wont miss ya. =)

Now saying that.

Stoops will not be leaving OU anytime soon. He is the highest paid coach in the NCAA right now. Even w/ the Colorado coach coming in. Stoops will be making over 4mill this year alone.

I agree. I don't see Stoops leaving OU anytime soon if ever, not all college coaches want to go to the NFL matter of fact the 2 coaches in lastnights orange bowl (Bowden and Paterno) never care about going to the NFL. Some believe or not love coaching in the college ranks and all the perks that come with it if your a successful HC as Stoops has been.

Wasn't Stoops the defensive coordinator under Spurrier at Florida? And he also was the D-coordinator at Kansas State under Bill Snyder. So he is primarily a defensive guy... Mike Leach, Mangino, and Chuck Long have been his offensive minds at OU.

But... There's some concern that his brother Mike is the real defensive guru, right?

I used to think Stoops might be the next Jimmy Johnson, but I have some real doubts after the way his team played when his brother left. I know his talent wasn't the same, obviously... But still, I'd be scared if he were named our HC. Although I would feel a lot better if he could bring his brother and some other of his old assistants with him.

At least he's young and has enough energy that I think he'd work hard to adjust and correct any early rookie NFL coaching mistakes he might make... But would we want to go through those growing pains?

All true and excellently written.

A lot of college coaches can win with superior talent. Put them in NFL against guys spending 80 hours a week in the office with even or less talent and that changes.

Stoops has ZERO NFL experience that I know of and there is NO way I'd back him as coach of the Cowboys until he was hired and I had no choice.

There is no salary cap on coaches and thats where we should keep the best talent in the game.

As foolish as Snyder has been his stepping up financially to keep Gregg Williams was a genius move. He may be leaving his dunce hat years behind. I seriosuly hope not.

Weis is now the highest paid coach in the league.

There is no chance that Bob Stoops would leave the college game to become a defensive cordinator. If he leaves its certainly to become a head coach

Stoops will get a $3 million bonus if he stays at OU until 2008, so I don't see him leaving. He will not accept just any NFL job if he does. I know the $3 million bonus wouldn't mean much if he was offered more money in the NFL, but I think he knows he has something special with his freshman class and wants to see it till the end. I sure hope he does.

Who are we? I do root for the Cats, my oldest goes to U of A. I think Mike is the better coach and I do not live under a cacti, but I do have several large Sahuaros in my front yard. :D

And if Stoops stays at OU, get ready for several 7-5,8-4 years.......Later...James, is it??????

Haha you are so lost. Tell me Oracle...

What is Stoops record as a HC since taking over the program in Oklahoma? Let me help you Old Cat of the Desert.

1999 - Stoops first year at OU - 7-5
2000 - Second Year - 13-0 and the NC
2001 - 11-2
2002 - 12-2
2003 - 12-2
2004 - 12-1
2005 - Finally he is rebuilding - 7-4 and goes on to beat the BCS #6 Ducks carrying a 10-1 record in the Holiday Bowl.

Sure does seem like he is not living up to expectations for Norman. He must be on his way out the door this minute. :D

Notice I leave out the other 2 NC titles we lost. =) For arguments sake.

P.S. Mike is a great coach. He is a great defensive minded coach. You cant argue recruiting tho. There is no way the cats can stack up against Neb/OU and Texas as far as talent. Coaching will only get you so far. As us Dallas fans found out this year.

I agree totally. There is no way he'd leave OU for the NFL unless it's for a HC job. No such chance at all.

I wouldn't doubt that that Dom Capers will get a look if Zim leaves. He's a good 3-4 DC.
