Would we still have Randy Moss?

I've seen multiple posts about us passing on Randy Moss and choosing Greg Ellis instead. My question is, would he still be on our team as of right now? He would have helped Aikman out no doubt, but would he have survived the Chad Hutchinsons,Drew Hensons,Drew Bledsoe's,Quincy Carter's on our team? I don't think he does and he gets frustrated just like he did in Oakland and gets traded or released anyways because of his attitude. He probably never gets to play with Tony Romo.

What do you guys think?

IMO i dont think that we would still have him. Theres no doubt he wouldve looked great catching passes from Aikman, and paired with Irvin, but like the above poster said, his attitude problems wouldve gotten him in trouble. Im not gonna lie, i did want him on draft day, but its not like Greg Ellis was a complete bust. He had a good career in Dallas, and stuck with one team for the most part, where Moss was in purgatory for a few years before he was reborn in New England.

Agree with you both 100%. Moss is a lot like TO. These guys just can't stick with one team their enttire careers because of their attitude.

Randy Moss would have choked the life out of imbeciles like Stoerner, Carter and Hutchinson.

Ya see, I dont get why people rue when he would have been long gone by now. Would Jerry draft a QB high to make Moss happy? Doubt it. We got guys like Galloway,Keyshawn and Glenn and he still made no attempt to find one in the draft.

Who knows, but having him would have probably extended Aikmans career and the Cowboys would have been contenders for a little longer. That would have been more worth it over what we got from Ellis imo.

Or made them better QB's than they really were...
Led us to multiple average seasons.
Demanded too much money and got traded / released / played out his contract and have been gone even before Bill showed up.

Moss wouldn't have prevented Irvin's injury or Aikman's back going out on him or the oline getting old. I don't see how Moss would have helped that much.

That offense became a mess. Aikman didn't have any reliable weapons so he took more of a beating. Jerry also pulled the plug on Aikman before he was ready to leave, that wouldn't have happened if they were having more success.

There is no guarantee Moss would have meant more success.

Nope, a Hall of Fame WR wouldn't have kept the offense going with Aikman throwing him the ball. What was I thinking?

I've always argued that Moss would have had a short career in Dallas.

Remember he had demands to become the highest paid receiver (or player, can't recall) precisely when we went into "cap hell".

No way would we have been able to satisfy him.

But, I do think 1998 with Irvin, Aikman, Moss, and Smith would have been a fun season to watch.

They went into "cap hell" because they had to release high paid older vets before their contracts were up and Jerry decided to blow up the team and start over. If things were better with Moss he would have restructured contracts like the Commanders keep doing. There is always ways to keep the guys you want to keep.

It would saved the 2 first round picks they wasted for Joey Galloway.

Honestly I dont either. About the only plus I see is we probably wouldnt have had the need to trade two #1's for Galloway, but with the way we were drafting then its not like we would have had sure-fire quality players with those picks anyway.

He'd have had two seasons with Aikman, then nothing but garbage at QB to work with. And with all his issues I could easily have seen him ending up suspended or even arrasted had he been here. I also wonder if Parcells would have ever come here if Moss were on the roster.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Was it 2000 and 2001 first rounders? It could have been a domino affect if we drafted Moss.
