Yep, a split would be good. I still think we're ok after playing 3 of the first 4 games on the road, 2-2 isn't bad after that. Its hard to win road games in the NFL. We have to stay in games until our young cats get better and until we jell in that new 3-4 defense. We're gonna be just fine. We get a shot at Philly and the Giants, while the Foreskins have to travel to Denver then KC. It's early, real early....

If we're going to be legitimate playoff contenders, I think we need to win the next to games.
I could see us dropping both or splitting and still approaching, or meeting, 8-8.
But we simply can't start the season 2-4 and 0-3 at home and within the division and consider ourselves anything more than a very, very subpar football team.

I no longer think we're legitimate playoff contenders...
to make the 69ers (worst team in football with one of the worst QBs in the league) look like the '94 69ers is inexcusable. Losing to Wash was inexcusable, they suck. Then to lay an egg against an 0-3 Oakland (who are crap despite what anyone wants to argue) confirms my suspicions.
This is not the same team of the past two years. We have the ability to sling the ball downfield, open up the offense, and blitz on defense. Yet, we're being coached just like the last two years...not to lose, which gets you beaten.
My hope is that BP pulls his head out and starts figuring out that the blame is NOT on the rookies, but on him and his lamea** staff. We have the talent to win.
But if we can't beat the worst teams in the league, what business do we have thinking we can win enough games against the better teams (who remain on our schedule) to make the playoffs?
I tell you what, making Rattay (who was benched on Sunday for sucking so badly against the Cardinals, the CARDINALS!) look like a champion sure should strike some fear in our hearts. Manning is going to pass for about a 1000 yards against us if Zim doesn't figure it out. I imagine we'll make a game of it though because we'll fall so far behind early that Payton and BP will be forced to start throwing the ball downfield instead of running to the left 3 times then punting.
I don't even want to talk about what the igglets are probably going to do to us. Some say I'm a chickenlittle, I say I'm a realist that's furious with our coaching staff right now. I challenge anyone to look around the league and compare our talent with the better NFL teams and then come up with a reason (other than coaching staff) why we're so far behind them....

most of our talent , is young, inexperienced and learning how to play the game at this level. Might be trival, but i think that is the main reason we are having a learning curve right now.

I am less optimistic now than I was going into the season. Our weaknesses are showing up and we appear to still have a ways to go before we are true contenders. The next two games are going to tell the tale; if we lose both the season is over IMO if we split we still have a shot and if we win both then we are legitimate contenders.
