the DC and neither Capers or Williams is brought in?

In other words, would you be disappointed if the defensive coaching staff is

DC - Stewart

Campo - Secondary
LBs - Hunley (sp?) or someone of that calibre
DL - Grantham

I would rather have Capers and yes I would be disappointed but I think Stewart remains the DC either way.

Yes, I will be dissapointed if we don't make further improvements. Not that Stewart is a bum, I just feel there are better options available to improve the team.

I would be disappointed because of the excitement being built up in my mind over the prospect of Capers coming here, I haven't really decided if I'm infatuated w/ the Greg Williams idea or not, yet

I don't really know what to think of Stewart, but he was a Dbacks coach-turned DC, and our players had a hard time playing in a coverage scheme that put an onus on reading the play

Stewart is the weak link, followed by Campo.

Me too.

Especially after getting my hopes up with the Capers talk . . . .

No, I'll be glad.

Phillips is a better defensive coordinator than Capers, and Williams -- who I think is very good -- is a 43 coach.

If anything, maybe Wade should take over the defense more than he did even last year. But I don't want a another new defensive system after we just showed improvement in only the first year of a brand new one.

I don't think, even if they bring in Capers, that they're going to change the system too much, honestly.

I like Stewart and think he can get better. If it came down to him or Capers though, I'd choose Capers everey day.

Nice analysis there. Remind us what Campo screwed up on the Cowboys staff last season.

Oh wait...

5-11 haters. :p

They're never going to let Campo forget he went 5-11 as an HC but they sure weren't upset to celebrate those 3 championships he was a part of as a defensive assistant.

i wont be as dissapointed this year as i was last year with him. Because campo and grantham are around to help out. much rather have capers. Stewart can stick around but i just dont think he was ready.

If that is how it is then I can't really say I would be disappointed. Some of these coaches like Wade and Stewart have only been in Dallas 1 season. This team while it came up short showed major improvement. No doubt I would love to add a Capers or Williams but if that does not come about then fine. I still have very high hope for this team and this staff.

No. Yea, I wanted Capers and Williams here because I wanted as many defensive minds as possible on the staff.

But Wade has his thumbprints all over the defense....its really Wade's defense.

He's (Stewart) young. Hopefully he is thirsty to improve himself and the defense and maybe next year certain things get fixed.

I think what is being overlooked is that Wade and Stewart didn't have much time to look at our players and evaluate them. They had to do it on the fly. And I think some of the problems you saw, particularly pressure from inside and coverage (that of the ILB and secondary) will be better addressed now that Wade/Stewart have had a full year to evaluate the current roster.

Based on what? Your imagination? Look at the Jags pass defense for the past three years then look at the year before Camp arrived there.

The defense finished third in sacks and got better as the season progressed. If thats a weak link Ill take that every day and twice on Sundays.

Although the defense gave up that TD at the end of the first half they were solid for the rest of the game especially down the stretch when it mattered most.

If you want to find a weak link look to the offense where the oline got worse as did our passing game and we have a OC that needs to ride a running game when its dominating.
