Would you bench Romo?

If this has been talked about already, I apologize.

But I was just thinking about it today..I think Romo feels TOO safe about not having any consequences if he plays poorly. I aways believed a little competition brings out the best in someone. Romo had Brad last year and knew he could play like crap and not get pulled.

So my question is....If Romo does his turnover act, do you pull him like Mcnabb? Some people were livid over that, but I thought it was a great move. Put some fire under Romo's behind and let him know nothing is handed out just because you signed a huge contract. If he's going to turn the ball over with no consequences than I don't care HOW much your making, get your act together!

I say this in hoping Romo has a MVP year and plays like he is suppose to. Hopefully we won't have to bring this up in week 8.

Not until he plays flat, which has never been the case since we advanced him.

Yes. If we had Tom Brady.

No. Because the other option is Jon Kitna.

I absolutely would.

Heck, when Johnson was playing for Romo last year against the gnats and was pulled in favor of Bollinger, after Bollinger threw that horrible pick, I would have inserted Nick Folk at QB, and so on until I found somebody who could handle the job.

I wouldn't last long as a Coach.

No, I never over react. :)

I wouldn't even think about it unless an injury was hurting his performance.

There isn't anyone on this team that I wouldn't bench if his play warranted it. And in the same way there isn't anyone on this team that I wouldn't cut if their play warranted it. You never say never.

But then the discussion turns to "well under what circumstances then..." My answer would be that we haven't seen the level of performance that it would take over several weeks to warrant Romo being benched.

Sure he's had some bad games. But never stretches of bad games. And it would take a prolonged stretch of bad games to sit him down. He's never had it and there is no way its going to happen going forward. Its not.

I believe Romo wants to win and works hard at winning I also think he is one of the better QB's in the NFL. So no I would not bench him.

For me, Romo has done nothing special other than post numbers with explosive receivers.

So if I'm a coach, I don't crown you jack **** unless you prove it game in and game out, and or, win something of importance.

People get caught up in numbers and all this flashy stuff, but the bottom line is making the playoffs, winning in the playoffs, and winning the super bowl. You can't accomplish that by flinging the ball all over the place just because you don't want to take a sack. Or if someone sacks you, instead of letting the play die, you try to do things that aren't possible, thus leaving the ball exposed, thus fumbling it.

Everything starts with the QB IMO. If the QB sucks (when it counts) you can forget about it.

So to answer the question, if he goes 2 or 3 games in a row constantly turning the ball over, I'm not sure if I would bench him, but my 1st draft pick in the proceeding draft would be a franchise QB. That would solidify the message. And this goes for any player on this team including Ware. I'm in love with winning, not players.

depends? What is the circumstance? is the game out of reach... kinda like the game Steve Young was benched v. the Eagles the yr the 9ers bought a Super Bowl! Its Football no one is above a BENCHING, PERIOD!

granted some of Romo fans will get their egos hurt... but obviously Romos ego can handle a benching!

Jimmy benched players in his day... including Irvin, but those days are long gone and sorely missed!

So the solution to the offense is to bench Romo and leave Corey Proctor in the game?

And replace him with Kitna???

I would fire the head coach in the lockerroom after the game if he did something as ******** as this.
