Let's assume that the board has been picked clean of premier defensive players. Would you trade pick 12 to the Miami Dolphins for probably be a draft day trade, but if Trade pick 12 to Miami for Jordyn Brooks, pick 1.30, and 3.94? If not pick 12 would you do it with pick 1.20 ?

No to 12. But a strong maybe with pick 20.

I agree with Hayseed, maybe with 20...not with 12. In fact, I would hope that we traded down from 12 and got something near 20 plus maybe a 3rd....and then would love to make that trade with Miami.

Brooks is in the final year of his contract. Not much value w/o a new deal. I would give them 20 for Brooks, their 2nd ( 43 ) and 2027 3rd. This would give them THREE 1st round picks.
As much as we need Brooks, he would only be a one-year rental w/o a new deal.

The slight concern with a trade for a player on draft day is no opportunity for a physical.

I like what we’d be getting, but I’d send them 20 instead. Maybe throw in a late day 3 to sweeten it for them. They may come up for a receiver or OT.

Then, I’d also trade down from 12 to 21, with Pittsburgh coming up for someone like Lemon. We also receive pick 76 and Nick Herbig.

The timing does present a problem.

If you’re giving up such a prime draft pick, you have to get a multi-year extension done with the player. And how would you do that in such a short period of time?

I don’t think you could make it happen.

Heck no to 12
Probably no to 20 because at 30 im losing access to impact starters at key positions like McDonald and Mcneil-Warren for Jordyn Brooks who is playing a non premium position in the last year of his contract and will likely leave for more money next year

So give Miami 20 and a day 3 pick for an older MLB is the last year of his contract?

Wow

No not on draft day, unless it is for a 4th round pick. Maybe a day 3 pick in 2027, possibly a conditional type 7th to a 5th.
Since he is on the last year of his deal. As he is a 1 year rental.
