I know, I know,...madden football, yada yada yada.

Jenkins, a 3rd, and a 6th to the Vikes for center John Sullivan.

If Jenkins ever heals up that is.

Heres the thing,....I think our O line actually has a chance to be very good this year, but IMO we need a quality center to slip in between the two new guards. A steady hand, someone to hold the fort down in the middle when everything gets chaotic. And someone who isnt going to snap the ball over Romo's head or at his feet in shotgun.

Sullivan is kind of a hidden Gem up there, one of the better young centers in the NFL. In fact,...quite a few rank him as a top five center. He would also seem to fit Callahans blocking scheme to a Tee.


The Vikes are in major rebuild mode and are in desperate need of a corner, can also use all the picks they can get their hands on for that matter.

They also have a young O lineman named Fusco they are VERY high on, a guard/center type but more of a natural center Ive read. IMO this would make the trade of Sullivan more tolerable for them.


Unlike many, I actually think the Cowboys have a REAL chance this season. Think our weak spots have been filled for the most part. Center and safety seem to be our only remaining glaring weaknesses. This addresses our biggest weakness IMO.

Trade for Sullivan,.....sign a " solid" veteran to replace Jenkins as other teams start making their cuts.

Lets face it,....what would you rather have, a part time player like Jenkins is going to be,.......or a fulltime lynchpin of the O line like Sullivan ? To say nothing of the fact that Jenkins is most probably gone after this season anyway.

BTW............I would LOVE to get Coachscouts input on Sullivan. I'd be willing to bet about anything he agrees that Sullivan is one of the top young centers in the game. Somewhere in that top 5 to top 8 range.

Lastly,.....I believe it is essential for us to be strong in the defensive backfield. Am a big fan of having depth back there.

But it makes no sense to me to be five deep at corner,....and ZERO deep at center. LOL

Besides,....even if we were to trade Jenkins we can still have nice depth at corner. Claiborne, Carr, and Scandrick. I also think this Madison kid has some game and upside. Add a decent vet at cutdown time and your in business.

A few years back in 09 I had a small amount of money just sitting around. Didnt know what to do with it,...just sitting in the bank drawing a little interest. I decided to go ahead and overpay , buy a couple ounces of gold. Glad I did.

I would LOVE THAT. Highly doubt the Vikes would go for it though. Vikes need players and picks in their rebuilding venture. Other teams know we are in a tight spot with Jenkins. They KNOW we didnt trade up to draft Claiborne and sign Carr for them to ride pine. They also know were stuck with Scandricks contract.

I see it this way.......Carr and Claiborne are our starters,...no doubt about it. Scandrick is a lock to play the slot. Thats leaves Jenkins without all that much playing time.


A 3rd is reasonable, a 6th is just a throw in. In return we get someone to anchor the middle of our line for years to come for a player that wont see much time for us AND will be leaving after the season.


We also still get to keep our premium picks of round 1 and 2.


Lastly,........when its late in the season, the weather is cold, we are in a tight game that we HAVE TO WIN to secure our playoff spot,.......we arent going to give one damn about that 3rd and 6th rounder....LOL But we will be mighty thankful we have an actual center to keep the heat off of Romo and open holes for Murrey.

I hear you, but sometimes a big name is JUST THAT. Just a name. This guy doesnt get a whole lot of pub up in Minni on a junk team, but from what I have read he is an upper echelon center and fairly young with his best days ahead of him.

Just VERY concerned about our interior line is all. Landing a top tier center will go a long way towards solidifying that O line and team in general.

We also have to consider what Callahan wants to do with our running game this year, to say nothing of being able to pass protect. We need players specific to the scheme. Guys who can get out and pull some, play on the move. Going to be running alot of the old stretch play this year. Something Callahan has been known for for a very long time going back to his days at Wisconsin. Also think it fits Murrey to a tee. One cut. Get outside and cut back to the middle or continue taking it outside. Have to have the lineman capable of running it though.

To say nothing of giving Romo time to work the field and stay upright. Those Eagle and Giants passrushers come pretty hard. I'd feel a whole lot better with a capable center out there.

You can focus on the big name. I'll take the good player.

If we can get a quality center for a cornerback and two mid round picks we would greatly improve this football team.

Comment: John Sullivan has been a solid starter in the middle of the Vikings offensive line since his second year in the league in 2009. Sullivan doesn't have great size but is athletic, intelligent and a tough competitor. He has active hands and good initial quickness to gain leverage at the point of attack. He understands angles and body positioning on combination blocks. Sullivan doesn't have natural strength to anchor versus powerful bull rushers but is often aided by physical guards in pass protection. He can be effective on the second level with good agility and balance to stay connected. John Sullivan is an excellent young center that should continue to improve in 2011.

I think that if they were going to spend the money, they would have signed Chris Myers in FA. It would not have required a trade and he is regarded at the Best Zone Blocking Center in the league.
