I was listening to the fan earlier and heard this interesting question and thought I would bring it here.

Situation
2 minutes left in the game
Ball on the 25
No Timeouts for the offensive team

Question
Would you rather be up 2 with the Packers having the ball, or down 2 with the ball?

Does your answer change in either scenario if the score is 4 points instead of 2?

Gut tells me down two. But I'd take up two as well. Finish the fight!

With the current teams roster I would rather have the ball and no 4 points wouldn't change my answer.

Down two, no question. I'd rather be down two than down four, too. But in neither situation do I want our defense v. Aaron Rodgers with the NFCCG berth on the line.

Though, I do think it's possible we could stop Rodgers on defense, too. Just pretty unlikely. I think there's very little way GB's defense stops this offense if we're within 7.

Now, which of our QBs do we want in that huddle? Just kidding.

Down 2 with the ball. We scored in 30 seconds before halftime in the last game. 2 minutes is an eternity, especially to get in field goal range!

2 or 4 makes no difference. But the score does.

If it was 42-40 or 42-38 GB, I'd rather have the ball.

If it was 19-17 or 19-15 Cowboys, then GB can have it.

It's interesting to say the least. Being up 2/4 likely gives you the better historical chance to win, but in this instance... I'm not so sure.

It's always better to be ahead. But, if the score is that close, it has been a tough-fought game and anything can happen. Both teams have good kickers so the 4 point scenario is very different in that the offense has to go the length of the field instead of only half of it. Either way, I'd choose to be ahead. I guess the real question is: who do you trust more? your offense? or, your defense? And that would depend on how the game has played out already.

With our offense and our kicker...down by 2 with the ball. 4 pts...I would rather have the lead.

If we wasn't going against a top tier QB like Rogers or Brady then I may have more faith in the defense and prefer being up by 2 or 4 points.

If Romo was playing, give me the ball every time, especially with Zeke in the backfield. With Dak, harder to say. Probably the same. Yeah, I don't want a freelancing Rodgers with two minutes left, that's dangerous territory.

Down 2 points with the ball.

Up 4 points and Rodgers can have the ball.

not enough information to answer

Ball on 25. Which 25? mine or opponents?
No timeouts for offensive team, but what about team on defense?

Lol really? Why would it even be a question if the Packers had the ball on the Cowboys 25 down 2? Come on now.
if they score too quick I will be glad I saved my timeouts if I'm the defense, hence the question

and vice versa

If i have the ball on my own 25 with 2 min, do I try and milk the clock and kick a FG or play it 4 down territory and hope for 6 burning clock in the process..

do you really think Rodgers can't score with say :20 on the clock?

That's a good question but with no time outs and having a rookie QB, I would rather be up by 2 with the Packers having the ball. I KNOW even with no time outs stopping Rodgers would be tough with them needing only a FG to win but the pressure would be on them to score and a lot can go wrong with no time outs in desperation mode. In that situation you have to abandon the running game and it's all on your QB and one mistake will cost you the game. That situation might be too much for Dak to handle in a playoff game.

I know we have Bailey but he doesn't have a strong leg so we would have to move down to at least the Packers 35 yard line to give him a decent shot. Give me the lead in that situation and force the other team to have to beat you. They probably would, I don't have a lot of faith in our defense but putting a game on the shoulders of a rookie QB with only 2 minutes to go and no time outs in a playoff game would lead to a mistake or a bunch of errant throws that fall incomplete.
