We all know Owens is a self centered big mouth who's had a history of calling out teammates and coaches. That's not good. Who knows whether BP can pull a rope around him. Personally I think it's worth the risk. But in an article from 5 years ago it was estimated that 21% of NFL players from 1996/97 had criminal records. 21%. Here's the link to the article. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=21735

So I'm just curious whether the band of TO haters that have their Cowboy gear in a box waiting from a formal announcement of TO signing to set fire to it would prefer a guy who has comitted an actual crime on the roster, things like assault, using drugs, selling drugs, rape, etc, etc. I'm just wondering what the definition of a "bad guy" is these days.

I'd rather have a team made up of Lithuanian choir boys, but that's just me.

Agreed. I should point out that if you have ever been arrested for a DUI or public intoxication, you have a record...

This is like asking would you rather have cancer or heart disease

But it isn't. The poll results so far suggests we'd rather have the criminal. I'm guessing because the consensus is "as long as we win SB's it doesn't matter". But there's still a part of this that doesn't add up. Why would people root for TO to be paralyzed or whatever but if Ray Lewis, Eric Moulds, Jamal Lewis or any of a host of other guys were wearing the star we would hear nothing but love and cheers for the guy? Just wondering.

The poll by it's very options also suggests that the person with a criminal record would not be disruptive. It's very slanted.

I am conflicted on this. On one hand, I can't believe we're going to have the jackass who desecrated the star actually wearing the silver and blue. Conversely, the guys is one of the best WRs in the game, and fills a huge need on the team. The entire NFC East has gotten better, and we need to do something to keep up. I imagine TO will be on his best behavior, at least for this season. Plus, there's no better guy to keep him in line than the Tuna.

So, I see it as very similar to voting for Rick Perry. I'll hold me nose and do it, b/c it's the best option out there.

Not really. But if it makes you feel better let's assume the criminal won't be disruptive. I've heard OJ was great in the locker room. :laugh2: Of course he hadn't killed anyone back then.

TO to some is the antichrist but to my knowledge he doesn't use drugs, doesn't abuse women, hasn't been arrested. Yet people HATE him with a white hot passion. I'm just wondering if there would be any of that passion for an actual criminal, disruptive or not. Or is the moral of the story, go ahead and beat your wife, just don't call out your QB.

Personally I would not want Ray Lewis or Jamal Lewis. I also do not want TO. I don't want this team having to deal with the distractions that TO can cause.
