would you rather have a stud TE ie Kelce, Kittle, Gronk type or a WR2?

passing on Warren for a guard was a big mistake. especially when we signed a couple of them in free agency

I don't think they're ready to draft over Ferguson.

Well I guess they could have drafted Warren and kicked Schoonmaker down the depth chart....

If you're going to label Warren as on par with Gronk before he even takes a snap we need to look at Booker as Larry Allen as well.

the TE Warren. If half of what I've read is true, he is a generational TE that can line up everywhere.

Id rather have OG...

Naw, idc just give me the better weapon. Wr2 is ideal but if the TE is a bigger difference maker so be it.

Nice one.

There’s been plenty of first round TEs that haven’t lived up to the billing. Over the years there’s been many “can’t miss” guys who have missed. Some pure busts. Pitts is ok but he was supposed to be “uncoverable.” Ha, no.

The better TEs in the league lately were not high picks.

That said, if it’s apples to apples, meaning both players hit their upside, gotta go with the stud TE over WR2.

Didn’t hate the Booker pick, but didn’t love it. I felt like they needed extra picks, even if futures, and to focus on DT.

Now, supposedly this is a deep DT draft, and if they grab a pair reasonably high, I’m cool with the strategy, but not sure how long Jerry is gonna go without a shiny toy.

ANY TE that starts and is decent or above is probably guaranteed a 50 to 65 catch season or more based on Dak's dump off/security blanket dink and dunk tendencies.

This means you don't have to waste a higher pick based on how the position is used.
A lesser guy can be almost as effective as the higher draft pick so it's a waste to draft the TE position that high.
Plain and simple.

Don’t believe the comment was necessarily placing Warren as an equal yet. He stated “type” which if you buy into any player comps. there are folks that peg him as a Gronk type in terms of pass catching and willingness to block.

I remember seeing the CBS player comp. as Gronk and the NFL.com comp. as Jeremy Shockey. I’m not suggesting he should have been the pick, but if you’d ask me what player could have been drafted at 12 that would have helped your QB the most, I would have said Warren over any of the remaining receivers.

I get what you're saying but he started off by saying "would you rather have a stud TE"....To me thats labeling Warren a stud already. If we are looking at Warren as a stud TE based off college production then lets call the All SEC G a stud at his position as well to make the question more level and not steering people in one direction.

Really given that TEs typically take a while to adjust to the NFL and Warren is a plus receiver but needs development with blocking there is a really good chance he would have started out as the TE2 in Dallas this year. Not a knock on him either, just the nature of the position for most TEs.

The Bears took that guy, the one who could actually stretch the seam at 10!
All that gimmicky underneath, lined up in the slot, yard ball he was doing in college isn’t going to be nearly as effective at this level. Teams are going to be able to cover him with LB because they’ll be able to run with him, so he won’t be able to use his size to block out the smaller Defensive backs.
There’s a reason his agent kept him from running at both the combine and his pro day!
Think more Jason Witten when he got old and got you 6 yards when you needed 8!

Mason Taylor anyone? The fanbase will have a total meltdown, especially if we take the TE over Burdon.
after reading your post, i may have misunderstood the original. I was thinking he meant at 12 if we coulda got a WR or the TE warren instead of an OG, who would you have wanted. My bad.
