Would you rather have had DK?

Won’t the compensation depend on how much the contract would be for and how much he plays, if he did sign for another team via free agency?
Yes. But it won’t be a 3rd and a comp is a year later. It’s also off set by who you sign

Adding on to this discussion would anyone have preferred signing/renting Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper over trading for Pickens? Pickens is much younger obviously and carries greater upside, but the other guys were available without draft compensation, probably cost more $ this year, but are also on the backend of their careers.

Should have clarified, next best wr. I don't personally care if it was golden or the guy actually taken as the 2nd wr (I forget his name). Now maybe they will stop being cheap and extend Pickens and I'm just worried about nothin. That just hasn't been their MO in recent years. But it is kinda crazy if they are willing to pay pickens, cd and dak they wouldn't pay a top 1 or 2 running back.
RB's are usually 1 contract players and fall off rather quickly. This day and age, you need two elite receivers and a good receiving TE to be competitive. They are trying to put together a similar rushing attack as the Lions, one veteran power back, with an explosive all purpose back. This strategy is being used throughout the league, rather then those bell cows we used to see.
