According to Sportrac, Clowney's market is a 1 year deal at 6.5 million.

Should we bring him in?

I say yes.

No he was never more than hype

I think it was Broaddus that said the other day that he didn’t think we would re-sign Aldon. Mostly because if someone else gave him good money, we could get a comp pick and use the money elsewhere.

Is this true???? Damn, what happened? He started last season off asking/holding out for some team to pay him $20m. If he's willing to sign a 1-year deal at that price, yea I'd do it. He can replace Alton Smith.

They dropped the ball when they didn't flip Aldon Smith at the Trade Deadline...now they're looking at a 7th round comp pick.

Nah on Clowney. Jerry likes Armstrong over Clowney anyway.

for $6.5 mil? Sure!

For a rotational end, that seems pretty high. If we're going to have high-end starters, we need to have fairly cheap depth. Clowney is the type of player we'd normally be willing to pay $6.5 million to start. Or to put it another way, Aldon Smith was pretty much a starter all year and the most he could make from us for the season was $4 million.

Good point.
