Would you take the job as Cowboys OC?

I ask this because of the Kellen Moore situation. Is it more about evaluating him, or evaluating around the league who actually has interest in taking the role? As of right now under contract we have Dak, Ceedee, G*ACL*"lup, Jalen Tolbert, a broken down Zeke, Malik Davis, and some young tight ends....Will this be who we go into training camp with? probably not, as draft picks/vets will come but you never know with this team...

They all have talent but outside of maybe Ceedee (looks to be finally past those drop issues), each one of those players has concerns that if i was trying to rehab my image (ex. Kingsbury), I wouldn't exactly be running at the chance of being scapegoated for them underperforming again....

Now it's the cowboys, so despite the lack of playoff success, we know we're still Americas team so there's always going to be someone who just wants the opportunity but in all honesty, would you want to be responsible for coming in and fixing this offense with the players we currently have? I'm not sure I would.

Would you take the job as Cowboys OC?

Hell Yea, I Have The Experience Too..

No self respecting OC will take the job this year

Let’s examine the facts:

1. You will have to work with Dak who you know can’t read defenses and is liked by the owner. so good luck trying to get him to understand his deficiencies and work on them and your offense will be limited

2. McCarthy may have got the endorsement of Jerry but the fact that Quinn is coming back this year means that McCarthy is going to be dead man walking if we struggle. Quinn will likely be HC next year. Will he retain you? In essence if the offense struggles it is a one year job with you as the scapegoat

3. Stephen has a history of not spending cap money. They’re going to pay Parsons, Diggs and Lamb big money and 2 of these are on defense. Unlikely Stephen signs a big name offensive FA and rookies make little impact in year 1.

Put this together and the team is headed for a bad season with you as the scapegoat

Yeah, good luck with that
Good points.

I suspect it will be someone that holds the OC title but is really a glorified MM assistant, albeit an important one.

Quinn’s got the defense, and him returning allows MM to become more involved in running the offense.

This should have been done years ago and reminds me of when Jerry hired Parcells but forced him to stay with Zimmers 43 for two years.

I bet Jerry wishes he all those seasons he threw down the toilet back.

Honestly I think so too...i think the only way he's gone is if he asks to leave (mega unlikely) or McCarthy already knows a top name is interested in the OC gig (still unlikely for reasons i mentioned but better chance than moore leaving on his own)

I hear ya...but i'm so tired of hearing this offense is predictable. it's been a recurring theme every year since garrett took over and i feel that plays a big part in us not getting further ahead because the best defenses already know what we're going to do...and they always stop it. Dak aint a top 5 qb but it's not always his fault his receivers always seem to be blanketed by a defender when he throws the ball. that's the defense knowing where to be.
Fair point

100% about the evaluation of Kellen. Clearly there is something Big Mike is concerned about with him.

Pay me what an OC makes in this league and I would let Stephen Jr tell me what plays to call.

Taking the OC job in Dallas is like being hired as a driver for Ferrari and the engine is produced by FIAT.
GL trying to win the championship.....:muttley:

I would do it just for the $$$, but I know I would get blamed for the Quarterback and be out of a job soon. In fact, why'd they hire me anyway I have no experience? It's so the Quarterback doesn't get any blame!

:lmao: At all the fans saying no one will or should take the OC job because of Dak and / or Jerry. That is just insane thing to say.

My heart says yes, but my mind screams “no!” Doesn’t matter what you say or do, they’ll never be a shortage of complainers. Can you imagine the pressure of trying to keep everyone happy!

Yes, I would take it. Some nice weapons to use, the QB situation is not miserable (Dak is good enough to get to the playoffs, which is his ceiling), and Jerry would pay me top dollars to retain me.

Dak averaged only 33 pass attempts per game in the regular and post season and still led the league in interceptions …….maybe the answer is to restrict him to under 25 passes a game an design all his throws to be on the run.

sounds like a game plan to me
He did but thats not his MO yet, your not getting pat mahomes type QB play here, but how in the world did the QB go from great ball security to horrible... Coordinators do have some control of what the execution looks like, they practice for a reason.
