Would you trade Dak for Drake Maye?

Let's say Dak wins regular season MVP but loses in the divisional round with a subpar performance. If he asks to be the highest paid QB would you consider trading him to the Patriots for the 2nd pick (as of right now) to draft Drake Maye? Belichick probably doesn't want to draft another 1st round QB after the Mac Jones debacle.

$25,455,000 hit and $34,000,000 savings post June 1 trade. They could agree to terms and execute the trade after the draft.
Doesn't matter, it's still stupid. The whole value of trading for a young QB is that you have him on a rookie deal. This scenario, you're still paying a league-leading cap hit at QB but trying to win with a rookie. It's foolish.

Also, the Patriots won't do that. They'd be trading for a QB who won't be there until after minicamps, with no weapons to throw to on a team not close to winning anyway, who probably holds out until he gets a record-setting contract. Good luck paying Dak $60+m per year go to 6-11 three years straight.

I would say yes but Dak's contract won't allow it.
To have a QB like Maye on a rookie contract would be great.

What trade? He has a no trade clause.
Sure a no trade clause would make it more difficult, but it could still be done. That clause essentially gives Dak leverage in where he might want to go if there is another team he likes willing to trade with Dallas. If Jerry told Dak that he is done in Dallas, I can see Dak waiving the no trade clause. Why wouldn't he? If Dallas is moving on, then why would he fight a trade? It really doesn't serve him well if that is the case. He could go to a team that wants him because obviously in this scenario another team is willing to trade to acquire him and most likely pay him. Now I doubt Dallas cuts ties with Prescott. I think he gets another contract in Dallas.

Yup, NTCs are more about player rights than not wanting to be traded at all.
It prevents Dallas from sending him to a place like Cleveland(example) or Oakland without his blessing.

If Dallas told Prescott they want to move on this offseason he would probably give them a small list of teams he would be willing to go to/allow him to discuss extensions off the bat

Why would the Patriots trade the 2nd overall pick for a QB on the last year of his contract when they are more than a QB away?

To get to 2 what you would need to do is trade Dak to a contender and get hopefully 2 1s or at the very least a 1 and a 2. Then you package that, along with your 1 and 2 this year (possibly a 1 next year if you don’t get 2 1s for Dak) and then you have the resources to get to 2.

Now once you do what I said remember your average return is Mitch Trubisky, who is an average 1st round QB, so it is up to you whether that is worth it.

There are few teams who would think of themselves as a QB away from being a contender, but I think there are a bunch of good ones who might think an upgrade gets them there.

Minnesota, Pitt, Seattle, Atlanta, Vegas. Those are the teams who would pay a premium in draft capital, I think.

As mentioned a few times in other threads Bucs, Saints and/or Falcons are three teams who would be all over Dak if he was available. Having said that, this thread is fantasy talk coz Dak is probably just two playoff wins away from Jerry giving him a blank check ( likely becoming the highest-paid player in the league ) ........$55M will probably be his floor.
