I'll give the Patriots Dexter Coakley and a 4th rounder for their #2 pick.

As mentioned a few times in other threads Bucs, Saints and/or Falcons are three teams who would be all over Dak if he was available. Having said that, this thread is fantasy talk coz Dak is probably just two playoff wins away from Jerry giving him a blank check ( likely becoming the highest-paid player in the league ) ........$55M will probably be his floor.
He's getting that money regardless of what happens the rest of this year.

Honestly.......Drake Maye hasn't done anything yet. Stop it.

The only quality NFL QB Mack Brown coached was Troy Aikman and he really had little influence on Troy's development in college.

When did Mack Brown coach Troy Aikman? Okla - Barry Switzer for a moment, and Terry Donohue at UCLA. Huh? Not diminishing Drake Maye, but c'mon. Now if we link Trubisky and Sam Howell for Mack Brown....OK, or Vince Young at Texas......you got me.

Exactly. It was very long ago when Mack was the OC under Switzer. As you pointed out, more recent history are far better examples.

I really don't know what to think of Maye. He looks good and has all the physical tools. He is worth the risk, but as many have done before, 1st rounders bust more than they blossom.

No…we have a pro bowl caliber QB and a roster that is close. We just need to keep adding pieces.

If Dak has Bills/49ers game type performance in the playoffs the Cowboys should definitely consider shopping him.

I wouldn’t trade Dak for any QB in the draft, even though some have more physical talent.
We've seen “can’t miss” #1 pick blue chip QBs go bust for so many reasons. Until you see them in the NFL, they are all gambles.
If I don’t have a QB, I draft one high, but I’m not trading away a successful NFL QB on a bet. I love Dak, but I’d definitely trade him for some other current NFL QBs, but not for a rookie, not when he’s still in his prime.

Now, tell me we are going to blow up the whole team, trade away contracts and start over, then sure. That’s a different thing.

Let's say Dak wins regular season MVP but loses in the divisional round with a subpar performance. If he asks to be the highest paid QB would you consider trading him to the Patriots for the 2nd pick (as of right now) to draft Drake Maye? Belichick probably doesn't want to draft another 1st round QB after the Mac Jones debacle.
If we lose in the divisional round, it most likely won't be a Dak issue. It would most likely be a OL issue. We have seen what Dak can do with even subpar protection, if we lose in the divisional round, it is most likely because we do not have any semblance of a running game.

Truthfully to set the franchise up in a good position you trade Dak for any serviceable young qb. See sf
