Would you trade next year's comp picks...

To attempt to gain more picks in this year's draft or to move up for particular players?

Or would you prefer to let it the next 2 drafts play out.

Doesn't even necessarily have to be a comp pick, but would you sacrifice a couple of next year's to get more in this draft?

Comp picks can't be traded... but your question works with any pick next year.

The answer for me would be maybe, lol. It would depend on the situation. If it was for a player that I really thought would be good and moving up a few spots in a round (like say from 60 to 53) then yes I'd probably do it. However, I wouldn't go into the draft thinking, I have a lot of picks next year so I'm going to try to move up a few picks.

If there is a guy I really like and he is falling close to a pick, then yes, I would move a pick from next year to ensure getting the guy I like.

Thanks, did not know we couldn't trade comp picks. I'd almost prefer to get an extra pick or 2 in this draft as long as one does not include Petty personally.

Considering last year when we traded back up to snag Lawrence, I could see next year's abundance of picks being used as bait to trade back up as well.

Just when will we be awarded those comp pics? If I recall, we won't be awarded 2016 comp picks until next year, so to trade any of our next year regular picks to move up in this draft might be risky not knowing for sure what comp picks and how many we will be awarded. That's just how Jerry blew so many picks in the past.

They tried trading this year's 3rd to get back into the 3rd last year and draft Tra Turner so I can see them doing that this year if the right player is there, like a RB.

as stated, comp picks can't be traded and since Free Agency isn't over, we really don't know yet what the comp picks would be anyway...I personally don't like messing with future assets to gain something now...I don't mind trading something now for picks later, but not the other way around

If we trade up for a RB that would be a HUGE mistake.

Are there any players in the 2nd or 3rd that you feel that trading up in the same Demarcus Lawrence situation is worth?

Say for some reason that OO, KJ , or Kendricks makes it to 2nd day for some reason. OO would be most likely. Would you consider trading a combination of picks to pull that same type of move?

I would do a small trade up for Gurley in the first if he drops .
I would trade ahead of the Cardinals because if Gurley is there when they pick he is a guaranteed Cardinal. Thats as far as Gurley will slide.

As Asthma said, can't trade comp picks; however, if you change the question to just future picks in general, I would say no in general. If a specific players falls in the draft, then it could be a consideration like with Trai Turner last year; however, the Turner issue shows that it is hard to match a trade for a player that "might" fall to a certain spot.

I would even consider going the other way an collecting a future pick in a trade.

I wonder what we offered last year...maybe a current 5th plus a future 3rd to get the current 3rd?
More likely it was trading up one round from the 4th to the 3rd and offering a future 3rd to do so. Still didn't work.
Oh well

Would you be willing to pull the same kind of trade we did last year to get high up in the 2nd if Kendricks or KJ is sitting there at 38?

Stop asking me questions that I'm too chicken to answer:laugh:

It'd be tempting for sure. Giving up a very valuable 3rd to move up from the last to earlier 2nd is expensive.
Then again, since we pick much later this year, it's not nearly as bad.

I don't like moving up..... sometimes it works most of the time it doesn't. Dez was a case in which it was worth it.

Could trade our regular picks for next year, do you think Cowboys go all in for Super Bowl win this year ?

Agreed, he just seems flat out better then any other RB prospect. I could see a trade up similar too Dez, if he slips. Let's hope...

Last year the Cowboys did good in the 1st and 2nd round getting guys I feel are impact players. It cost them a 3rd round choice, but I think it was worth it.
